Deity please! #3

^Convincing

I generally try to avoid cavs vs rifles even if i have airships. You show here that it's perfectly sound to do this. I think this may get too hard if the victim is protective less you're willing to sacrifice a lot of them.

We will need the superior numbers when doing Cavs against Rifle city taking. i.e. 2.5 times number of attacking Cavs vs. number of defending Rifles. That is with Airship support. Flank 2 + Cav's innate withdraw make the survival odds around 55% + ~18% win odds. After Airship bombard, I run a full round of Flank 2 cav attack to further weaken each defending rifle, and generally next round of combat/pinch cavs can win.

A medic 3 is also necessary to keep the pace.

In this game, I have the superior production (2x of the nearest AI), and that should be enough to win a domination vic using Cavs/Airship alone (researching railroad next to make things move even faster). Against Protective Rifles, just bump the attacker to defender ratio to 3 :)

Update to 1515AD

Spoiler :

1270AD: Jao Vassels to Sal, and Sal DOWs me.

1310AD: I took 1 Sal city and he accepts peace. He just fininish the war with Germany and has huge stacks of Cavs (~45 in a single stack) and protective Rifles. So I decided to take a break and tech to AL. So I signed peace with him which costed me nothing.

1310AD-1450AD

Burned 2 GP to start my 3rd GA. Switched to Organized Religion to built factory and coal plants in all cities. And here is the result in 1450AD

4.2 times more :hammers: output than the most powerful Deity AI:D

1510AD: Sal DOWs Germany, I stationed my offensive stack near Germany and now ready to take advantage of this opportunity to kill Sal's Large defensive Rifle stack. In this pic, Sal has 20 highly promoted rifles in a former German city engulfed by German culture.

1510AD:

Wish I had Artillary now, but well, dont want to wait for killing his Rifles. Against these beasts, even CR2 cannons had low win odds (<5%), I lost around 10 cannons, but was able to kill all his Rifles in a single turn. From here, city taking will be much easier with Cav/Airship.

1515AD:

I reduced Sal's power so much Jao changed his Vassel status to under WK  and WK DOWs me and Germany at the same turn! Great now everyone is at war and my superior war machine will carry the day!

Now Railroading the empire to bring troops much faster to the front.

Arty in a few turns, currently running Police State/Vasslage/Caste/State Property/Theocracy the ultimate production and war civics. and I prob will not need to change Civics for the rest of the game

Update to 1585AD

Spoiler :

1520AD: Going on offense against Saladin.

After destroying Sal's huge Rifle stack near the German border, my Cavs thrusted into his core cities supported by Airship. Mecca falls.

1535AD: A strong vassal.

After taking another 2 cities, I decided to Cap Sal. He is still relatively strong with good num of cities and power, I could use him later against Germany and Korea. Since Germany and Korea are at war, now it is a good opportunity for me to

1. Finish Portugal (3 more cities to the West)

2. cap SB to the West and his colony Vassel Rossy (another landmass). They are easy targets.

Germany has Roketry and Industrialism (MArines), but a few techs away from Panzer. Since I have railroad across the empire, it is easy to swing my forces around to achieve strategic goals.

1550AD: High EP

My troops are in position to wipe out Jao, I get 450 EP/turn so had the luxury to revolt AI cities before Airship and Cavs

1555AD: End of Portugal.

I immediately DOW SB.

1560AD: Barrage 3 Artillary.

SB launches a small attack, now i have artillary. Look at SB's stack after a single Barrage 3 artillary attack. SB's stack was in full health before this.

1565AD: Battle for Mound City.

My 33 Cav backed by 12 Airship and spy revolt Vs. 8 protective Rifleman+1 Gren+4 Cavs

Took the city with 0 loss! :crazyeye:

1585AD: Cahokia falls.

1585AD: SB Caps

1585AD: Roosy Caps

I was too lasy to send an navy to take out backwards Roosy, so just capped him.

1585AD: DOW Germany.

Germany now is fighting a 2 front war aginst me and Korea. That early war bribe (Korea against Germany) paid off big time :goodjob:

While I was fighting SB, I set waypoint for all cities to send newly produced troops to the East near Germany. At this point, most cities are building Artillary and Cavs every 1 to 2 turns. With Railroad, the military built up was swift.

I send 1 out of 2 Medic 3 general to the Eastern front as well to lead the offense.

Here is my first assult battle group. Many cavs will return from the Western front shortly.

Airships give me great map info on enermy concentrations, but with my huge SOD and medic 3, i should have no problem handle Gemany with advanced defenders.

Both my population and Land exceeded 50%, hope i can reach the dom land requirement after cap Fred and after those SB cities come out of revolt.

Thanks Dirk :)

Update 1610AD. Domination.

Spoiler :

I crank up EP to 50%, getting around 975 EP/turn. This is enough to revolt each city.

1600AD: Battle of Berlin. (Fred is building a bunker in Berlin? he afaid of my nukes?)

Defenders: 8 Infantry + 6 Marines + 1 machine gun + arties
Attackers: Spy + Airships + Artillary + bunch of Cavs

1600AD: Berlin falls easily with a combined arms assault.

1605AD: Munich falls.

I saw Munich was lightly defended, so just sent in a stack of Cavs + spy. And it falls easily.

1605AD: Fred Caps. (After 5 turns of war lol!)

1605AD: Hammers, hammers and hammers.

War machine at a glance. Not a single whip since 600AD.

1610AD: Dominatiion.

Capping Fred was enough, dont even need those SB cities out of revolt

1610AD: Domagraphics.

1610AD: Score.

1610AD: Statistics.

Cavs was the bulk of my forces, and did the heavy lifting. In later phases of war, Airship, Spies and Artillary gave great support. But most of the time, Flank 2 Cavs did most of the dirty job :goodjob: allowing a quick sweep.

I am a slow player, I dont even automate my workers at the last turn .

Wow 1610 AD. No nukes?!

Well done!
(I am still busy with that insane OCC map you linked to me. Tons of fun!)
