Del62's HOF Attempts

I haved moved on to a large cheiftain 100K game with the celts, I got an SGL for philosophy which I used for the pyramids (as soon as entering republic), the sgl allowed me to swicth my Pyramid build to Temple of Artemis.

Below is the core at 1000BC

At this time I had 25 cities, 8 settlers and 25 workers.

I will update on cities when I hit 10AD.

for a chieftain game, I wouldn't build gallics - I'd disconnect the iron, build 4 warriors for the same shields I'd spend on one gallic, then upgrade them later.

I'd save shields for settlers, workers and culture - since you can run deficits without penalty on chieftain, there's no need to build up cash.

Why the Statue of Zeus?

Good question, first because during the golden age there are a lot of shields hanging arouund and they cant all be used on workers and settlers, so it gives me a steady stream of military that can either be used, disbanded in towns. In this game I have used them to crush the spanish taking 3 of their 4 towns, assisted by a few gallics. It just feels like good value.

I understand what your saying but there is a flaws in your argument, once you get feudalism then you cant upgrade, and before that I use cash for settlers and workers.

ahh - that's a point. It doesn't really matter, of course, since you can probably take out all the chieftain AI's with a stack of 5 gallics.

OK 10 AD Update as promised

181 Cities

8878 culture 514 per turn predicted finish 1700AD

Not 1700 - closer to 700

assumptions - 3 food per turn per city, expand to 500 cities, whip everything at a steady rate, average of 8 turns journey time for settlers, no allowance made for culture doubling, assumes population transfers between cities (these last 2 factors should offset)

cities + settlers hits 500 on turn 140 (250 AD)

most libs and cat built by turn 175 (600 AD)

Win turn 188 with CPT 4700 ish

At the start of 210AD, 234 cities and 46 settlers 261 workers and 972 cpt

it would be nice to have only 8 turns journey time per settler

Finally completed the Large Cheiftain Culture 100K and Accepted into the HOF, finish date was 700AD, by the end I had 416 cities and 3612 culture per turn, I basically stopped the game at 630AD after realising I would need to add 120 new culture per turn for the next six turns to save a turn, when I could only add about 60cpt.

I ended up with 62% of the land and could have fitted more cities in.

Here are some figures for those interested

Date / Culture / Cities / Cpt / Settlers / Workers
110AD - 11864 210 696 54 238
210AD - 16170 239 972 41 262
300AD - 24467 268 1362 24 292
400AD - 41546 318 1998 26 321
500AD - 65104 354 2633 81 338
610AD - 99170 408 3488 116 226

The reason for the increase in settlers towards the end was that cities with lib / cath/ colloseum would pop rush settlers until unhappiness set in.

Nice Job. :)

How much of an issue was cash flow - I typically use the post colluseum cities for tax farms.

Because it was Chieftain I ran at a deficit, in fact I missed a trick and should have gone 100% luxuries.

Since my last update I have had number 1 positions in small regent (the gauntlet), large deity (a domination attempt that I decide to finish as 100k because of empty table) and tiny demi 100k.

The tiny demi 100k was an early galli9c assault on India and Spain followed by a feudal temple of Artemis culture pop rush with 8 luxuries, playing out like lower levels once military dominance was established around 300bc.

Next up is a huge demigod domianation attempt for a number 2 slot with the celts, I took a departure from the norm and excluded all religous civs so I could have CB as a tech trade option and went first for mysticism, after a few poor games with bronze then Iron, amazingly this allowed me to pull off monarchy slingshot. I am oping to finish by 900AD.

I am currently doing a huge demi-god histograhic and have reached 1000AD

Here is the current status position

I have destroyed the Arabs, Mongols, Celts, and Japanese.

I have almost destroyed the Aztecs but they have a settler on a boat annoyingls, so I made peace with them due to war weariness.

The Americans, Chinese and Zulus remain almost intact, at least from me

My tech position

I decided on no alphabet to start and no scientific civillations allowing me to control the tech position, this is important when you want to pick up luxuries, I now control 7 of the 8 luxuries, the last one being on the zulu Island, which I am currently receiving, I am planning an invasion for when the deal runs out.

EDIT: Oh and turns seem to take forever with over 700 workers, just over 300 native.
