Delay CONFIRMED: 10/26/05 now.

Time to consolodate everything into one post:

I have confirmed that there were shipping delays -- the game has been sent in TODAY's next-day shipment and will be arriving in stores tomorrow. this should be the case for all companies, not just EBGames. (Companies should be shipping today... if they use next-day it will arrive wednesday.)

I apologize for any confusion, I am doing my best to get everyone the most up to date information I can. I actually woke up early to go in to work 2 hours before the store opened to get this information As of last night when I left work, our comptuers showed that the game would be in stores today, however the date was changed in computers this morning, suggesting a release of tomorrow.

Phone calls to our warehouse, along with a compilation of information from other posters, confirm the shipping delay. I can reasonably confirm that they ARE being sent today and should be arriving tomorrow.

I always hate to bear the bad news, but I'm just doing my job... please don't shoot the messenger!!

I suppose this isn't horrible; I was hoping to have it today, but I do have to prepare a rather important engineering presentation for tomorrow, which I undoubtedly would have done at 5am tomorrow if I'd gotten civiv today.

What ive noticed is they mostly ship games on Tuesday and it gets to the store on Wed. (Theres some RARE times where stores get it tuesday too) Its not a delay just planned that way. Games used to be shipped on MONDAY and in stores Tuesday like CD's and DVD's but for some reason it all changed......sucks i know

Im pretty good friends with the Gamestop manager here and he told me should have it Wed. If he gets games in earlier he usually calls me (got FEAR and WoW a week early than release date) I just wish Civ 4 was shipped early

and Ranyanth......its nice to see ACTUALL gamestore employees know what there talkin about for a change LOL, dont see that too much nowdays.

Being in the international transportation logistics field, it boggles my mind how companies continually screw up release dates. It's not just Civ IV, but most games that I encounter (with the exception of Madden, which I usually pick up the night before the official release date!).

If we can be part of a chain that ensures massive concerts are hitting pinpoint schedules that are planned months and months in advance, you would think that game companies could set a date and meet public expectations.

But I've come to expect this inability to meet schedules by game companies, so today is just the expected bummer.

Regardless, we'll all get the game tomorrow and lose about two weeks of sleep in the coming days!
