Civ VII Weekly Reveal Guessing Thread

Yeah, I'm thinking Prussia will get a Junker UGP (as depicted by the disgustingly aristocratic European pair in the GP video), and that one or more of them will generate a unique Army Commander on the lines of Louis Antoine de Saint-Just's Archangel of Terror.

There are a host of candidates: the Junker Class provided the great majority of all Prussian and later German officers from rthe Great Elector in the 1680s on until 1945, despite the Nazi's attempts to sideline the 'aristocrats'.

While I'm pretty sure it won't happen, I would love to see the game (or any game, in fact) acknowledge the massive influence of the Grosser Generalstab (Great General Staff) on the military art in general and Prussian/German military prowess in particular. Especially since the institution is entirely a product of the Modern Age. It could be linked to some of its greatest members, like von Moltke or von Schlieffen, or one of its founders, like von Gniesnau or von Scharnhorst. Possibly as a mechnism that gives your Army Commanders an automatic Upgrade or even a special Great Bonus of some kind.

But, as stated, I'll be surprised if anything like that happens. Instead, probably get a list of Prussian officials and generals that give some middling bonuses at random, just like all the other 'Great People' seen so far.

I am going to guess something that's not going to be announced this week.

As you know, Fireaxis is having a livestream on Thursday for multiplayer and post launch content.

If you've also been paying attention to my small amount of posting on this part of the board, I've been wanting Fireaxis to announced a port for the Nintendo Switch 2 since the game was first revealed.

That being said, I do not think they will announce a port at this livestream as it seem no other non-indie game has made a port announcement since its official reveal a couple of weeks ago.

I'll probably come back the first week of April and guess a port announcement then because it's likely Nintendo is requesting all marketing for the Switch 2 be kept to a minimum until the Direct on April 2nd.

Switch 2 is backwards compatible, Civ VII is going to be on it.

A native version, not one that is just backwards compatible or gets a boost, but one optimized for the hardware.

It's like saying that the console ports of VI are on current gen hardware. Technically it's correct because of backwards compatibility, but they aren't optimized for current gen hardware.

And the Switch 1 version is clearly the worst version out of all of them if Fireaxis has a section in the FAQ effectively saying "Switch 1 is the worst version and you won't be able to have the exact same experience as elsewhere".

It’d be neat if Prussia didn’t have a unique military unit. But Instead have a commander replacement and some kind of great person that was oriented towards German contributions to 18-19th century literature and philosophy.
A Cultural-Scientific Russia with no Civilian Unit and a Militaristic Prussia with no Military Unit... wouldn't that be a neat pair!

I kind of doubt that will be the case. I'm leaning more toward the idea of a Junker Great Person and some of them might take the form of a commander, or cultural and scientific achievements.

Yeah that feels more likely, but it would be neat to have philosophers and writers too.

After Russia (not called Soviets) had the Katyusha, and America had the Marines in an amphibious assault craft, and the Meiji (not called Empire of Japan) had the Zero, I would not be the least surprised if Prussia (not called Germany) had the Panzer after all.

I think having actual writers isn't going to happen, especially since the only Modern Great Works are artifacts. Several Junkers still contributed to science and art so I think it would still work. I wouldn't expect all of them to have militaristic abilities. :)

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised at this point about Prussia having a Panzer either.

With Britain in CotW and Vinicunca accidentally in the Great Person short, I changed my mind on GPs for Prussia. The GP diorama model in that short were the British GPs instead (which fits the optics much better), and Prussia comes with a unique commander and a nonsense Panzer.

So, were we supposed to get a new reveal today, or are they saving that for tomorrow?
I wouldn't be surprised if the whole DLC being leaked means they are focusing on that right now instead.

Reveals during Livestream, for exploration age stream they released Spain guide and Isabella video like 10 mins into the stream in their website and showed the video on stream
Oh yeah. So much has happened that I forgot that the livestream was today. :crazyeye:

I've seen Fredrick and Prussia suggested as the Game Guide recipients for today, but I think Napoleon being the 2K account reward means that he makes a lot of sense to be revealed with a multiplayer match. "This is what multiplayer is like, and if you sign up for an account to do it, you get this guy!"
