Civ VII Weekly Reveal Guessing Thread

That wouldn‘t work for a more trade-post oriented colonial empire that stretches very far, but without a cohesive stretch of land in the DL. Thinking of early Portugal and Netherlands here, mostly. I would like to have my Goa, Arguim, and Macao.
Yes, this would also apply to Phoenicia except in Iberia.

And Prussia with Alte Fritz.
We have three (demi-)pairs: Meiji Japan + 2x Himiko; Prussia + 2x Friedrich; Mughals + 2x Napoleon. Napoleon will be paired with Mughals because the other civs will be paired with their respective leaders. Two of them will be this week, one next. We're expecting Napoleon last because Firaxis wants to remind everyone to connect their 2K accounts.

my main wonder rn is who gets revealed first (likely tomorrow), Himiko + Japan, or Friedrich + Prussia?
My money is on Himiko first just because we've seen her a few times.

The idea behind putting Napoleon last is that they can use it to encourage players to connect their 2K accounts the day of Early Access.

Oh yeah I see it, getting them before they forget they have access to it.

Jokes on you though, Firaxis, I don't want any of your alternate personae, and neither Napoleon. None of them. :)

Also, coincidentally, the last three civs are still following the alphabetical rule.

They couldn't have offered me a finer disincentive to connect my account. :D You mean by not connecting my account I can not have Napoleon in my game?! Sold!

I feel like the only person on this forum excited for Napoleon and I usually despise the French :D, probably the only leader that will make me maybe eventually play France.

There has to be some sort of award for that.

I don't know which topic this fits in the best, but I am wondering what could Prussia's unique unit/units be?
Maybe some artillery or howitzer?

I was hoping to get some unique unit from world wars but I don't know if it is possible with Prussia.

It looks like their unique civilian unit may be a Commander. It would fit with Friederich's ability (Commanders start with the +1 Command Range promotion), and we have seen a potential candidate:

No Military UU.. 2 civilian UUs
(special General and Great Persons that give free military units+cultural boosts)

This. We've seen European nobles as great people, and while possible, I have a bit of a hard time to imagine that someone would display Jacobins like that. (Maybe Paul Barras though...)

Edit: inspecting them again, they don‘t really evoke Prussia either. The mal version looks very English/American.

We saw Imperial Russia get a Soviet era UU and Meiji get the Zero, so there is precedent for Prussia to get a UU from the years after the formation of the German Empire. I would go as far to say that is seems likely the Prussian UU will be from the world wars era.

I will continue to be this unit's biggest hater. We have confirmation that IPs can use army commanders, so that is my assumption until it's proven otherwise with Prussia's reveal.

Remember that the Modern Age ranges from about 1750 (Fred the Great's hey-day) to the 1970s (or thereabouts)

That means for Army Leaders from Prussia they could have, just for a short list:
Duke Ferdinand of Brunswick
Leopold I, "the Old Dessauer"
Gebhard von Blücher
Edwin Freiherr von Manteuffel
Helmuth von Moltke (the Elder)
August von Gneisnau
Gerhard von Scharnhorst
Paul von Hindenburg
Alfred von Schlieffen
Friedrich von Seydlitz
Albrecht von Roon
Ludwig Yorck von Wartenburg
Adalbert von Bredow

Note that many of these had very particular attributes/reputations: the Old Dessauer is the man who actually trained the Prussian Army that Frederick used so well, Bredow and Seydlitz were cavalry experts, Scharnhorst and Gneisnau formed the German General Staff, etc.

- And these are just members of the Prussian Army before it got folded into the Imperial German Army after 1871. A great many of the later German military leaders were from the Prussian Junker class that these men came from, so could also be added to the list: von Rundstedt, von Mackensen, Erich von Manstein - von Richthoifen for an air leader or von Tirpitz for a naval commander!
