Deleting buildings

I´m toying around with some features of my XCOM mod. I decided to delete two building via the editor, the coastal fortress (since nobody seems to use it) and the coal plant. I experienced some funny side effects after doing this, and I thought I should share this - perhaps it is useful for others too.

Sorry if something similar has been posted before (but it seems most people want to add stuff instead deleting it ;)).

OK, I deleted the buildings, and cleared both slots in the files buildingslarge.pcx and buildingssmall.pcx with the magenta color. Then, when I started the mod, the order of the buildings shown in the city screen and the build list was completely messed up, eg. wealth was displayed with the airport icon... :(

I tried to fix this by deleting the keys for both the coastal fortress and the coal plant from the civilopedia.txt, and by deleting the entries for this buildings from the pediaicons.txt - no result.

Finally I was able to fix it by moving the icons in both the buildingslarge.pcx and buildingssmall.pcx two slots upwards - means in case you delete buildings, you have to arrange the icons of the following icons in those graphic files accordingly - empty slots will mess up the order in the city view.

To give an example: if you delete ONE building, let´s say the Barracks via editor, all icons below the Barracks icon have to be moved ONE slot upwards.

ah, thanks for the tip when changing building pics. It's a shame they didn't make it so you can pick a picture for buildings like you can for resources & units, and so forth.

Yes, that would be nice, especially for PTW. If you don't copy/paste buildings in buildings-large.pcx and buildings-small, pcx, you get nothing at all. And it's a pain to add new graghics to those files.
