depends on the game. Civ IV demo came out after the game too.

BTW, here's the download.com download link:Gal Civ 2. I'll be downloading it to try this weekend.

My internet is being slow tonight, so I'll download overnight/tomorrow.

It might not be your Internet, I think both of the sites have restricted download speeds unless you're a Gamespot Subscriber. Guess I'll go have breakfast.

Well, Demo is downloaded ... started playing around but I had no clue what I was doing, so I'm going to print the beginner's guide/manual that came with it at work tomorrow and take a stab at it tomorrow night.

I thought the second demo was more user-friendly than the first despite lacking the tutorial. I really had no idea what I was doing for the first game even after repeatedly reading the manual.

Hmmm...downloaded the demo, strated playing it, all right, seems cool. Then suddenly the game goes to the desktop and stays there. So i like, okay, that was weird. but when i click the game to go back, it says program error, and just dies on me. So i restart and the same thing happens.....this always happens in the wee turns, sometimes the first, sometimes the fifth but no later than that. I searched the gc2 forums but to no avail. It might be the mx 4000 video card i have but i can only afford one, a new video card or the game....so im wondering...should i buy the game or the video card? if anyone has any suggestions for me as to how to fix this ctd, ill be more than happy to hear them out

The Demo works great on my system and as you can see from my signature its a old system! I love this game, but the 140 turns is just not enough so when I get paid next week :D --->I'm buying it<---:D

The only thing the game is missing is Multiplayer... This game would a unbelievable MP experience! When you can customize you're Race and Ships to the level your allowed in GalCiv2, it would make for a very unique/fun online game.

Got the full game but the demo is just perfect for lunch breaks. 1 hour and 3 year to capture win! Will never do it but sure helps to develop some tactics for my home games :)
No crashes or anything so far on the demo, only couple .exe errors during ship building at home with full game. So far so good I'd say.

so how good is the demo for checking out the game itself and deciding whether to get it or not? it sounds very cool, sorta like an interstellar based Civilization game, and the ship builder sounds very cool too.

The game continues to get updated, leaving the demo a withering shell of old ideas and limited number of ship parts.
