Department of Turnplay

It seems like we should be meeting someone soon, it is almost turn 30 and last time around some teams had met about this time (turns 25-40).

I think the worker is headed to the plains, so send him there. Warrior in south goes one further south, warrior on the west coast continues down there, and the warrior on the mountain goes west by the silk. City 2 now has the floodplains going as of last turn so thats good. I still think we should build a worker there.
I would let the warrior complete, and then build workers. It doesn't need a granary yet, because it doesn't have enough shields to become a settler factory until the land is improved but it will work well as a worker factory spitting one out every 5 turns at the moment (4 turns after the other FP is improved and the city grows a bit)

The Starship Enterprise sent us the save. I cannot play for 4 hours or so, if no one does by then I will get to it.

if anyone can get to it in the next 12 hours please do - otherwise I will take it!

I do not know where this should be posted. Can somebody please explain to me how this works ? What do I have to do if I want to play a turn ?

I assume you haven't actually played - as Wotan is Champing at the bit - Will play and keep him happy!

Played and sent. New settler in 3 turns (It will grow in 2, I MMed after the screenshot). The 3rd city should be up next turn on the silks.

Where do we want to go? I think we have to find a spot on the coast and launch a curragh or 3 to find the others.

Next city is by the 2 cows I think, we still need alpha for Curaghs which is more turns away than I can count.

Well really I guess (forgot about alpha), we should send silks settler up to plains by the N cow, and the next to the other (South) cow. Warriors are in the area for barb deterrance.

The silks spot has pretty bad food potential, and food is certainly priority #1. The western lands (and our island in general) are shield and commerce poor unfortunately. Forbidden Palace has to be around the 2 cows I think.

Agree with the FP location. I think we have a difficult tech decision next. I see 3 options

Monarchy
Alpha
BW & IW

Alpha is for curraghs and contacts

IW is for Gswords

Is it feasible to do monarchy on minimum while building up a massive stack of cash for a mass upgrade of warriors to GS's? While this is an attractive idea we still could need Map Making before we can get them fighting anything but barbs.

Perhaps it is alpha then morachy on minimum - but that may be too late

We need to research Warrior Code as well to get Monarchy. I dont like the min run idea. We can always let the others find us, but if we fall behind in the brokering we might have to build the Library of all Libraries, which actually isnt bad in a game like this.

so alpha>WC>Monarchy>writing >map making and trade for BW and IW

or alpha>WC>Monarchy>BW>IW and hope we can trade for Writing and map making to get the GS's off the island.

or alpha>BW>IW and see what we can trade poly and mystic for before we commit to monarchy.

We also need to start thinking about a vet warrior factory so that we can upgrade them to GS's later.

I'd skip alpha and let others find us. 2:d option starting on WC is my choise. We can trade for the sea-techs later, and no mini run please. it's impossible to know for sure which alternative is the best but making sure we get to :king: asap opens up for fast self research if we don't get to trade to our benefit. Having GS's also makes it more than difficult to land enemy troops on Gong Island.

You know, with an isolationist strategy, we can get 60 cities on our island. This is potentially 840 culture per turn, and probably closer to 900 with wonders and culture doubling and things. If it will be hard for us to be attacked, we can pull off the anti-establishment cultural victory. Hows that for out of left field?

Of course they will see it coming after a while, but can they do anything about it with low commerce tiles (only 2 rivers) and most of our coast being blocked?

Edit: The more I think about it the better 100K sounds.

I have some experience with 100k, - it won't finish before turn 220 in the best of cases - we are probably looking at closer to turn 300+. By that time we will be staring at cavs or worse. Unless we are going to do something cheesy like fill our border with units and make them get to marines. Otherwise I don't think we don't stand a chance of pulling it off.

.... having said that, I would love to try!

I dont think we would need to block everything off, we could still leave them room to land if they want to take us on. And we can support 240 units in Feudie (edit: actually 300 with 5 unit support for towns), give or take cities in our core. 100 Trebs and 140 Gallics could clean out a lot of units. Of course cash will always be a problem, maybe we alleviate that a bit by building GLibrary.

The bad thing about cultural is it is boring. The good thing is it will work well here; I think we could do it in 230-240 turns, and they cannot launch the spaceship that quickly unless 2 teams consolidate the other two, and research together against us. 60 cities in place asap (cash rush), Pyramids, and lots of workers to whip out improvements.

I think a 100k would be outstanding- no one would see it coming until it is too late. Of course, we would have to rely on the fact that no one will be able to challenge us, because we have to have twice the next civs...

I say go for it- of course, that means we need to get culture buidling up soon.

Thats a couple of votes. If we do go 100K how do we go about it? If in SP, I would just grow like normal, whip a few temples/libraries early to double the culture, and buy settlers and fill the island when we get a new govt.

The Pyramids would be nice but maybe not as valuable if we massbuild workers and join them/whip them. Actually Great Library might be the wonder to have since we can save quite a lot of gold. And it doubles to a sizeable cpt number.

If we do the 100K, I think we should hit alphabet next, and speed to lit to whip some early libraries as well. Edit: well we dont have cheap libes, so maybe this is less efficient. Perhaps just build more workers there.
