Is there any way to keep a resource from depleting? Or is there any way to know when a resource will(EX: each resource only has like a 100 turn limit?)

Michael

you cannot prevent resources from depleting. As for the second question, each resource has a chance each turn of disappearing (and immediately appear somewhere else!). Some resources like rubber or horses will never deplete.

The only way to prevent a resource from depleting is to never hook it up.

I'm surprised by that too!

Check out this for chances of losing resouces

Hmm? Are you sure you linked to the right post, because that says nothing about connected and unconnected... :hmm:

No I know that but I thought that the probabilities were useful info. It was never meant to relate to the unconnected resource comment-just expanding on the answer to the original question in this thread.

So are you surprised by the unconnected/connected issue?

Yes! I clearly didn't construct my post very well! The first sentence relates to the diappearance of an unconnected resource which I thought was impossible. The second sentence, in a different paragraph, relates to the chances of a resource disappearing.

Perhaps in the situation described by jm chen, the road was finished at the end of one turn and the iron disappeared at the start of the next. It's got to happen sometime to some poor unfortunate person I guess :) I've been close, having coal connected for enough time to build just a miniture railway before it disappeared and that was bad enough. To lose your only source of iron in the early game is a nightmare!

You can change them in the editor to never deplete. Set the disappearance probability to 0.
