In our old way of offices and elections, first you would get voted in and then you would appoint your deputy. In my idea you would run for election with your deputy. When being nominated you will be nominated the old way. Here is where there is a fork in the road. you can either:
a). Ask someone to run with you and contact the mod who will be in charge of elections.(we could hold an election for this person too). Now the ballot will have your name and your deputies name on it.
OR
b). if you cannot find someone to run with you, you tell the election mod and you will run alone.however, a second election will be held for deputy. So you may not have a deputy for six days. your deputy may not be someone who you are fond of either if elected.
What do you think of the new version

I don't like you poll options, since I don't hate your idea I just think it's a bad idea. I think that every one should run on their merits, so you should not have anyone else on the ticket.

Also I've been away so this is the first I've seen your idea.

but this way we dont have people who we hate as our deputies. plus, you could use option b

no,no,no you could use option b so that you wouldnt be held back due to your deputies abilities since you wouldnt have a deputy to run with!

The "running mate" idea is different than what we've had before, but not enough better than either the deputy system or appointments to make it interesting to me. It might be useful to do this for the President / Vice President but even then there would be potentially 2-3 people who should be good enough to run for their own office if they are good enough for VP, but not free to run themselves. If a Presidential candidate can find someone willing to be appointed who's not running then good for them, but typically we see someone who loses the Presidential (or a different) election being VP.

The 2nd election thing just doesn't work at all. It would distract people's attention from the game itself, where we already lose a week to the main election. Also if we have someone who wins an election but is unavailable the first week of the month, the deputy can't step in because the 2nd election isn't done.

I think we're bickering too much over deputies, as they're not supposed to have any power unless a minister's unavailable. Just make it the runner-up and be done with it.

Although the gentleman from Michigan is someone that I respect, I can not support his idea, and would instead urge him to join me in supporting appointments which would in essense make the idea of running mates a reality.

While I may agree that the debate on this issue has stretched on for more time than is deserved, I disagree with my fellow Imperialist Party member, Gloriana and ask that all members show their strong support for the appointment system and reject the loser-wins scheme.

but say we all hate the guy who was the runner up? there are only 2 canidates and this person is a total nazi, troll, illiterate fool. we all voted for the other guy. so it isnt fair to give the loser a position.
plus, what if there are 2 runner up ties

I don't like this idea as it just seems to make a basic system in our government (deputy selection) more complicated and clumsy. Voted "I hate the idea"

Not very likely. If we all hate the guy he won't receive any votes, and in my opinion you're not a runner-up if you have no votes at all. If it happens though, he still only has an advisory role to play and if he somehow comes to power I'm sure we all hate him enough to support a vote of no confidence...

Hate? Hate? Could you translate that for me? :)

Under the loser-wins scenario, somebody who loses 99 to 1 will still be elected deputy.

Reject loser-wins, support democratic appointments.

Heh, I'm going to add that to my sig.
