In a newspaper I once read that a train got derailed. I looked that up and it said in the dictionary:
Run off or leave the rails

So I think that often describes what happens to a lot of the debates/arguments in OT. People get to arguing about something completely different from the OP and it goes off-track. Exhibit A.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a problem? If not, what can we do to reduce this? Or is there nothing.

Some of the tomfoolery in that thread was kind of petty. Sometimes threads just sort of switch tracks rather than get outright derailed. It's sometimes difficult to stay on the thread topic in the middle of a quote war.

You are not the only one.

Nothing we can do other than report it. Hopefully the mods will then split off the derail into its own thread. Its faffy work.

Better just try not to respond to the comments which would derail the thread further.

I wouldnt mind tomfoolery with Petty.

I will admit I did derail a few threads in my CFC career. But not on purpose. I've seen it deliberately done though which makes me mad.

Sometimes derailing a thread is the only way to save it.
