On the first point: I was looking at some possibilities for a unit that could either smooth the transition of a city from a conquest to a core type of empire, or one that could serve as a diplomat for those vassal city-states. Possibly a Tımarlı, possibly a Beylerbey. I would prefer for this to be not a great person type CUU but rather one with more generic and pragmatic abilities.I thought it was more interesting having a unique Great Person than possibly having another generic Army or Naval Commander. What is your idea for a Civilian UU?
@Bonyduck Campersang already suggested the name "Millet" and I just forgot to change it.
I thought of this too, but I figured the palace itself would be inspired by the Topkapi Palace. I also considered one of the Mosques as well, but not sure if Religion isn't going to play a big part in this era too.
Yeah, the Civic names might not have been the best, but I'm fine with any changes on those. I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to the Ottoman Empire so these are appreciated. I wasn't sure about using "Gunpowder Empire" though because that's not specific to the Ottomans, especially when we have one in the game already confirmed, the Mughals.
While the Mughals and the Safavids were also described as Gunpowder Empires, this sort of has a different meaning for them. The Safavids were never particularly great at gunpowder (their Tofangchi were nothing special and after the Battle of Çaldıran their adoption of gunpowder was forced but half-hearted) and the Mughals were more focused on artillery than infantry. I would say the Ottomans are the archetypical gunpowder empire, as they were the first of the early adopters and their janissaries and artillery set the tone for the other two.
