Design: Units

Bannors replacement for macemen-
Children of the Light.
Get +25% city attack. (not sure if macement already get this)
Get +25% village, town, hamlet attack. (if possible this owuld be cool.
Otherwise give them +25% village, town, hamlet defense I guess.

I was thinking, and it doens't seem like the Berserker unit fits for the bannor. He embodies all that is chaos and bad. Instead, they should get a "Blademaster" (i've been reading wot again recently).
Same except that he has march he is the same.

(has anyone started a Wheel of Time civ4 mod yet?)

Also, a grigori unit to replace assasin:
Bounty hunter--
Same except starts with +2 xp.
This enables it to adapt to situations better without fighting first.
I think it is interesting enough to include.

I just meant badness to the law oriented bannor.
the bannor can go for the ashen veil just as easily as the order
but i guess they could use an enraged beuracrat?

A couple of things:
I think that having some different inquisitor units for different civs would be interesting.
bannor-Questioner: can "conscript"
conscript( useable on a town or village. Destroys the improvment and acts as recruitment)
Kuriotates-Dragonsworn
Starts with CotD. Evangelist.
Calabim-Bloodcaller
Can be made into a vampire at level 4.
Baleraph-Perpentach's Chosen
-1 strength, makes some (25%) of defeated units into slaves. (still has command)

Other unit:
Hand of Honor-Bannor replacement for horseman, starts with orc slaying.

only in single player

In single or multi-player an AI controlled bannor will never found the ashen veil (I was trying to think through obscure and unlikely events and I cant come up with anything).

An AI Bannor could adopt the veil as a state religion (although they tend not to) but they will never found it unless they are being played by a human.

yup
but if they only got 00 by religion spread to one of thiers and then captured the ashen veil holy city that might make them go evil?

is it possible to force a unit to become non combat temprorarily?
like if you attach the great commander to a non combat unit like a worker or another great person it now has a base str of 1

I'm playing a game as the Calabim - Order of blood, and damn, Vampires are FUN! My Small, but fierce, and OH SO HIGH LEVELED army of vampires are rampaging through that pesky human nation ruled by that outcast and oh so good elven leader. Oh yeah, Malakim. Soon their nation will be a people raised to be eaten.

Anyways, the vampires are REALLY good. Especially when you apply the vampirism to a Ritualist->Inquisitor->High Priest. I mean, you get high leveled mages with alot of summons and spells, for the cost of some unhappiness in a city.

What I do usually is grow a city to size 21-24, then stay with a unit with vampirism in each city, once the city reaches a point where it takes a long time to grow, and/or its unhappy, I eat a pop count (gaining 20+ experience each time). Then I do this for a while, and I will eventually have a unit with 200-400 Experience.

And the vampire lords, omg. I have to mention this specific one. I call him Slayer of Orthus. He started as a Blood Pet. Indeed he did. Many of his friends lives were lost in his accomplishment, but there can only be one. He climbed quickly in the ranks and he quickly became Alexis favourite pastime. In the end, she gave him the ultimate gift. Vampirism. Slayer of Orthus were now truly a vampire lord, not in name, but in spirit. He had to prove himself first, and prove himself he did. On the bloodred festival night of August 17 in the year of the new beginning, Slayer of Orthus was the most ecstatic and officially he was called Vampire Lord.
Before the Second war against Malakim Alexis apointed her greatest Commander to Slayer of Orthus unit of fine warriors, making him even more deadly.

Anyways, I think he has over 500 Experience now, and I am also trying to reach a record with the Host of Einherjar. Is there any record set yet? (Amount of experience/level reached before he is unsummoned).

Anyways, I dont want you to touch the balance of the Vampires much, but consider that the combination Inquisitor/Vampire is very good.

I'm glad you like vampires.

Doyou have a level requirement for upgrading to vampire lord? I'd say 8 would be appropriate.

It's 12, but I thought 12 was good enough. Its easy to reach with feasting a city.

Is it on purpose that Archer of Leaves cant get the two Wooden promotions? If so I think they are pretty worthless. (The same goes for the normal archer, but they dont need it as much, since they got their initial city and hill defense.)

Crawling Horror (Wonder/Unit Combo)

The First Crawling Horror is produced by a World Wonder and or a Project. This Wonder also increases "Horror" GP points. A GP only available through this project. The first Crawling Horror is free, all future ones either A) stem from this horror, or B) are produced via GP production.

Crawling Horror: A unit that resembles the mangled flesh of fallen soldiers. It should have strength in the 6ish range, possibly 5, but be a T4 unit. It has a special promotion called "Replication" and thats the catch - Every time it gets involved in combat it produces another of itself. This would mean that were it to survive, there would be two, each with equal functions. Crawling horrors would never benefit from tile defense. However, another horror would always be produced to replace the old one if it was one happened to be killed. (This would not apply when in cities however.) And this project would require the Ashen Vale Religion.

The idea here is something like an armegeddon spell that works thematically like the "replicators" from the SG-1 Adventures. They keep multiplying, and their numbers become an issue. THe game should check to see at any given moment if there are more crawling horror units than all other units in the game, if this happens, all crawler units become barbarian and lose the "Replication" promotion.

Also there should be some high level divine spell that removes "replication" from an opposing units. (To stem the tide).
