Design: Units

The replicating crawling horrors are taking over the world!

Hences it's potential Armegeddon Spell status. After they go barbarian, they'd loose the 'replication' trait, if possible. Then they could be killed off. Only to be reborn potentially with GP growth. Muahaha.

Sounds fun. I guess more armageddon rituals are never a bad thing. Might not even have to be a GP. Perhaps one could just have a 2% chance of being created in the ritual city in any given turn. Also, perhaps destroying the city that made the ritual would turn them barbarian prematurely.

I like this idea. I just love the idea (for some reason they are depicted as crawling limbs in my head) of crawling hands all over the globe, barbarian hordes, trying to wipe out all life. Maybe the sheiam should get this sooner than others?

I've got an idea for an interesting mechanic for a couple of dark elf units, whenever they are added. (although the mechanic could work for anyone)

Dragoon Archer (needs beter name)
3 moves, 5 strength
Can be just like the regular horse archer units

Shadow Archer
1 move, 6 strength
Can be just like the regular longbowman units

The Dragoon Archer (mounted unit) has the special ability to dismount from the horses and become a Shadow Archer
This new Archer unit is then stronger, and better equiped to defend citys & terrain.

The Shadow Archer (archer unit) can mount horses if it has them available to it. This converts it into a Dragoon Archer unit with lower base strength but more movement.

Either mounting or dismounting should take the units attack for the turn. (unless it has blitz)
The conversion would take the technology required to make the other unit, of course.

This would add an interesting synergy between the archery tech line and the horsmanship tech line.
Such a mobile defense force would be very usefull at times.

That's a cool idea. What if was for the balseraphs instead? A group of jesters that could turn themselves into a carnivalif need be.

Kuriotates will get mobile archers, i think, centaurs (dig back through their thread.)
Really? I always thought the Kuriotates would get Dragoons or some other dragon-related units. Especially since:
Spoiler :
Cardith Lorda is basically Eurabatres incarnate.

Dragoon Archer (needs beter name)

How about "Nightmare Archer." No not nightmare as in a really bad dream. I mean a nightMARE, like the MTG card. It should look like archers riding on the backs of black horses basically.

I guess I may have been refering to a demon horse. Not many horses fly and gain strength by the master owning more swampland (not that that would be put into FFH2).

Ooh that would make it really tough to get a Svaltar horse archer equivalent until hell comes up or however hell is being implemented. At least it will be for the AI. Maybe if the Svaltar palace started with nightmares?

I think Pyre Zombies need to be relooked at. They are identical to axemen, except that they have no bonus versus melee and are undead. Undead doesn't provide bonuses, since being melee they are still vulnerable to axemen and such. And they can't upgrade. Or is there a hidden advantage I'm unaware of?

You're right! I just remembered that I was looking at the pyre zombies in one game and then looked at the axemen that the same exact civ could build and thought "why would anyone using this civ bother building pyre zombies when they can get the better version for the same exact price?". Are they just supposed to be immune to fear or something? USELESS.

don't pyre zombies blow up when you kill them, damaging units around it? or am i thinking of something else?
