Hey “Bros in CIV”
Since I am a creature with a small brain, I may not get things right, so please correct me if I am wrong. To my understanding “Civ of the week” means that every week different civ is to be presented. Hmm…. so why that fancy ‘civ3.com ‘ has not been updated for over 7 days?
PLEASE give me some reason to live!!!

WTH?

Maybe a week is 8 days in Hunt Valley.

No, we know how to count just fine..

The site was scheduled to open last Friday, I opened it early because we were ready and because everyone was (to put it politely) very "eager". Civ of the Week updates are going to take place on Fridays, and around midday our time.

It seems to me, that the ‘Big Designers’ are watching what we are saying! I am going to set my PC to download all it can from civ3.com that Friday midnight!

Because… civ3.com will be updated (so they say) around midday in UsofA, so that is around midnight in Australia.

Let me do the math on another desperate call...there are 8 more Fridays between now and October 16. This means that if they only add one civ per week to the Civ of the Week feature, we will only get to see 10 of the civs before the game comes out. This means that we won't get to see 6 civs?

Please help...

Yes my friend (hmm… I am not sure about calling Hitler my friend?!). I thought about that too. If the guy in the PC store is right I will get Civ3 on 3rd of Oct so I get to discuss only 6 of civs.

Maybe they just advertise it through 'Civ of the week' a little bit after the game is released..?

I'm a pathetic little wimp.

ur probably right about the advertaisment. But i wish they preview every civ before the game comes out.

Oh no.... gimm the Civ III BEFORE they finish with the review!!!!!!!!!!
And Mac version NOW

Damn straight my Dutch friend - I certainly don't feel that I have to see a description of every specialist unit before I decide to buy the game! Is it likely that anyone of us will say 'Oh, I might buy the game, but I need to see the exact stats of the F-15 before I can make my mind up'.

Let's face it - at the moment, the site is a way of tantalising all us fanatics so that we rush out and buy the game on day one (just in case we weren't going to!), thus pushing it to the top of all the sales charts, guaranteeing publicity. After that, the site is going to have to try to inform those benighted souls who know nothing about civ what they are missing - so it'll need to keep updating something.

Not that I'm criticising at all - except for the fact that midday US time will probably be after I have left the office (hey, it's POETS day) so I won't see the updates till Monday. C'mon Dan - think of all us Europeans and get out of bed early

They aren't going to get all the civs previewed b4 the release at the rate (less stress on my parody production!).

DAN of Fraxis...can you justify the exclusion of the Spanish and Ottoman civs whilst we have the pathetic Zulu and Iroquis civs (the Huron destroyed the Iroquis and partially assimilated them...so there).

It's past noon now in Maryland... Does anyone have an idea when midday is?

I guess it all depends on when you get up

But I think what you really want to know is when will the site be updated? And the answer is, now.

I've just read the civ of the week.
an information page that everyone can have by reading Encarta n 2 screenshots(wallpapers actually)...so how about a real update?
mad.gif

Cause right now we all can tell the next civ of the week(Greeks).
Including the minoeans, the acheans, the cycladics etc.
When Phillip 2 of Macedonia died, his son Alexander the Great unified Greece n conquered middle east till the indian gates n Egypt.
It's not possible to count what the Greek civ brought to us.Their laws beeing the basis of our modern code of laws bla bla
Special unit:Greek phalanx(actually macedonian) +1defense.
N i didn't open Encarta to write that so imagine if i would have.

Uhhh, not quite. The Iroquois were the Militants of the two, the Huron were actually very weak, and probably would have been slaughtered off had the English not arrived and sided with them to fight the Iroquois. Then the English coughed all over their camps and that was the end of that.

Cool stuff on the Civs of the week, although have you noticed they have downgraded the chariot attack strength from 4 in Civ to 3 in Civ II to 1 in Civ III... that is some change..

Also, I will sorely miss the Spanish and the Mongols, while the Ottoman Empire should be there, probably along with the Arabs...Will there be an expansion disc released with new civs? Anybody know? I mean, customising is fine, but it wouldn't have any of the cool animated art...
