I'm having a problem with Dialog Text that doesn't show up properly in W2k/XP Pro, Has anyone seen this in the game? Like when doing a trade with another character in the game? This has shown up with 3 different nVidia video drivers (23.11, 29.42 and 30.30) , so I don't think It's that, and yes I have the 1.29f patch too. It's partly purple/pink/(Blue is the highlighted choice) and is below where It should be in the Tan dialog Box on the screen. :scan:

Welcome to the Forums zoom314 :).

Strangly I dont have that problem on my computer. (Im using WindowsXP and had no problems relating to the OS :D). It may be the video card or the Game settings. Try changing the game settings. (Odds are with the enlarged text and wrong coloring it may be the video card or the game setings. But try to change the game settings first before you start messing around with the video card ;) )

Well I just tried lowering my video cards speed down to the stock speed of 175/166Mhz from 235/215Mhz and there was no difference at all in how the text was displayed. But then I have an ALi chipset here on My motherboard. So maybe It's a bug in civ3 or the ALi AGP driver.

I had the same problem too...
My config was
P3 600
Savage 4 32Mb
64Mb ram
Win98
------------------------------------
****

I tuned it to:

AMD 2000+
GF3 Ti 500
320Mb ram
WinXP
------------------------------------
I don't know the exactly cause of the problem, but it could be the video card. When you have a Vodoo ofr Savage ****, forget it (generally with all games). When it's beause of WinXP (as we know and love it) :goodjob: turn on the compatibility modes (the only feature of windows, that helps). Right click on the prog file ->
Attributes-> Compatibility. Check all the 4 options there and set the comp mode to Win98 (or win2000 perhaps). Perhaps, 640x480 res and 256 colors are not neccesarry, however.

I received this reply from Firaxis:

You will want to remove all of the Lucida ___ fonts to another folder,
leaving only "Lucida Console" in the Font Folder

I'm running XP, I would think this would apply in any edition of Windows possibly.
And so what I did was to make a folder called "spare fonts" and just copied the extra "Lucinda ___ fonts" there and deleted them in the fonts directory and My problem has been solved!
The only thing left is the missing "splash screen", but that's really just a minor problem and I won't worry about It too much.
