Spring of 1911 A.D.
Two weeks ago was the last time I wrote, and a lot has.........happened. As I suggested in my last entry, the Americans had many more soldiers, to say the least, behind their lines. I was right to advance slowly through their territory.
I ordered my northern battalions east, and we soon discovered the masses of the American barbarians falling right on top of us. Needless to say I lost the northern forces, and a clear path to Boston lay wide open. With these soldiers that the Americans called minutemen we were losing militairly and technologically.
All forces south of Boston soon came under attack as well and we lost 2 battalions of swordsman. We were soon being pushed back. A simple mistake even with all the caution i put into advancing our troops. But I would not let the motherland down, i wasn't about to let the Americans touch the soil of Terra once more.
All of our men were forced back into a defensive position, and I, with my crossbowmen escort, was occupying the fort on point Helheim. I wracked my brain for the week after our retreat, wondering what we could do. My men were used to fighting in thick forests and in hills not on the open plains, sure the border was covered with forests, but further into American territory and everything was wide open.
BUT, there were to major things that changed the tide in this war, and some vital flaws in the american army. One the Americans did not have enough strategic resources to mass produce minutemen apparently, and the other flaw was the use of swordsman attacking across rivers into our hills and forests.
The first major change was the rise of another military genius such as myself. Leonidus was a great man whom we lost during the second week of our retreat. He died building the Great Fortress of Midgard. It was completed, and we now held a strong defensive line against any attacks. The Americans had the choice of coming at us head on or looping around the mountains through English territory.
The second Major change was the development of our own version of Gunpowder. With musketmen now in route to reinforce our lines we could challenge the minutemen and wipe out swordsmen. Another advantage was these soldiers were trained to fight in open terrain, so we no longer were at a disadvantage.
We plan to move east, BACK, onto American Soil, we will end the war right here. I have intelligence reports that if we break the line here the Americans will have NO military power to stop us.
