So my friend and I started a little game.
He hosted the game because his computer is about 10x stronger than mine (so I hope that means his computer does all the thinking) but because this was more or less his first game I said he should play on Settler.

He's on Settler, I'm on Prince but what about the computer players?
Do they have their own difficulty or do they take after whatever the host is playing on?

AI civs and City-states own the host difficulty level. Barbs act independantly from each player level(i.e. % attack/defence bonuses).

For example :

Host : Settler
You : Prince

You gain 30% against barbs and the host gain 50%(maybe more). The host also have a chance to pop-up settlers and workers from ruins.

City States and AI civs will grow at settler level. The host has a(huge) happiness bonus to start with.

Easy for him? Yeah i suggest to let your friend playing chieftain instead. Also, at settler level, barbs don't cross your territory for a certain amount of time.

At chieftain he will gain extra happiness only(and less than settler).
