Hi. I've been lurking here for a while but this is my first post. I'd like to know what the heck ya gotta do for a diplomatic victory?? I've won all other victory types and decided to play Gandhi and go for a diplo win (Civ IV vanilla). I had all nations voting for me except my competitor (Caesar). I got 430 votes (245 from me, 98 from Mao and 87 from Peter). Caesar had 138. It said I required 227 votes of 568 and yet I still didn't win with 430?? I am rather confused about it. Can someone help clear this up for me? Thanks.

Are you sure that you were voting for a diplomatic victory and not the head of the UN? I think for a diplo win you need 2/3 of the votes, so it seems like you were voting for the head of the UN. After a few turns you can choose between a few options, one is to vote for the diplomatic victory.

After you are head of the UN you have to wait some rounds. You then get the option, what to vote for next (example: diplo victory; Nuclear weapon ban, free speech for everyone etc.). So you just choose diplo victory and hope you get enough votes. Just don`t be surprised if some of the people that voted you in won`t vote for your victory (I think you need about a +10 relationship with someone for him to vote for you).

Thanks for the help :) I won my first Diplo Victory. I could have won many turns earlier if I had understood :P. I was dissapointed there was no movie.

PS- I thought that was my first post but I guess I posted here when I was playing Civ III lol.

Anyone try a "flirting" Diplo win with opponents Boudica, Eliz, Victoria, Catherine, Hatty, Isabella? :mischief:
