Direct 2 Drive Pre-Load Option Now Available

To give you guys an idea, I just finished my download, so it took about 40 minutes. I get 54 Mbps.

Doskias51, the only thing I can think of is that the servers might be full.

I'm on DSL, getting about 200 kb/s. Preload should take about an hour and a half or so.

I'm getting 1.0-1.7 MB/s on cable and looks like the entire download will land in under an hour. Not bad at all.

Got my activation key but it is telling me there is no servers to provide the content. It wont let me pre-load it.

Might wanna hit steam/preferences and select a region or select a different region. Sounds like an odd issue.

I'm not getting an option to pre-load. When I go to games it just says "not available." And nothing happens when I click on "View Pre-Load Info..." Anyone else having this problem?

I had some navigation issues finding the correct "page" to kick off the preload. Go to view/downloads, once that page appears there's kind of a title at the top of that screen below the menus. Click games - it popped up Civ 5 for me with a noticeable "preload" button at that point, and then things started rolling.

The screenshot in this thead: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=379532

...shows the title and "games" subtitle that I'm talking about.

Huh, yeah. I get that page, but there's no Pre-Load button. I have a Mac, and am planning to run the game on Bootcamp or Crossover. Do I have to be in Windows to even Pre-Load the game?

Thanks for the quick response.

On the D2D site, if you are under "My Account" and go to either "Recent Files" or "Games", there should be an orange "Download" button. Click that and it will give you an activation key and instructions to activate it on Steam.

I'm not sure about the Mac question.

This is great! Can't wait to find out what the Babylonian UA/B/U's combination is!

An observation and a question:

I pre-ordered two copies of the game, a deluxe edition through D2D recently and a standard copy from Steam much earlier. (I will use them to play LAN MP with my wife or one of the kids.)

Yesterday I downloaded the Steam copy using my wife's Steam account.

Today I registered the Deluxe edition on my Steam account and when I hit preload it immediately returned as finished, using the same copy I earlier downloaded, nothing additional was downloaded.

So, I'm left wondering
  • Does this mean there is no difference between the standard and deluxe preloads?
    OR
  • Does this mean I need to delete the preload I did yesterday and do a fresh preload of the deluxe edition to get the extra content?
Can anyone else who has preloaded the deluxe edition comment on the presence or absence of files relating to Babylon?

MY guess is they are the same download. In fact, I ordered the D2D deluxe, and it just says Sid Meier's Civiliztion V as the title in my Games, even through the Steam receipt thing said Deluxe...

Yeah, you'd think they would have released this information by now to encourage people to download Babylon. Unfortunately, the XML files are encrypted so that it's not possible to see any information pertaining to the game. Otherwise, I'd look it up.

As for Babylon files, I see nothing pertaining to Hammurabi/Nebuchadnezzar in my leader files, so I'm guessing it didn't download the Babylon stuff (even though I have the Deluxe version). Ergo, it's likely the same download (and they'll patch it on the 21st I suppose).

Yea i ordered the Deluxe and anything extra babylon and soundtrack etc didn't download.

The babylon stuff is essentially DLC and thus probably not part of the core download/preload.

Based on experience, my guess is that the Bablyon DLC/soundtrack/video will be downloadable at launch. The preload is just the base game files.
