Direct 2 Drive Pre-Load Option Now Available

Thanks for the notice! Downloaded at about 1.5 Me/sec. Back to waiting.......

Well this just made my day :D

You know your addicted when: your day is made by finding out you can download encrypted files that are all but worthless for another 6 days

As far as I can determine, the only thing you need to --or even can -- do is activate your given key with Steam. I'd imagine, the Deluxe edition owners are identified by the keys they were given; Babylon will probably be downloaded when the game is authorized for release. The first DLC will involve activating a second key at a later time.

Yea I preloaded the game. But my question was about the mappack, because D2D doesnt have any mappack with preorder, in any of both editions. Just the Babylon civ in deluxe. Mmaybe they misslabeled as mappack. A friend of mine has the regular edition and doesnt contain the quote about mappack.
Also I found that appears in your steam account like Civilization V D2D DDeluxe Retail.

I just got an email from D2D saying so.

Of course I can't, since I'm at work... but will be tonight! :)

Actually Direct2Drive released the keys yesterday. They just sent out the emails about it today. Either way, you need to input the key into Steam so you'll be pre-loading via Steam, not any of Direct2Drive's software.

Welcome to civfanatics, VenomSeed! Also I dount they changed their mind, since they never actually announced when they were going to release the keys and all we knew so far is based on speculation.

Thanks for the welcome! I've actually been lurking here for over 2 years, but never actually signed up. Played all the Civs down the years and love this site.

I thought they had "changed their mind" because I saw an e-mail someone else got from customer support at D2D saying there were no plans for a pre-load. But maybe I'm mixed up in my old age :P

Anyone know what directory/folder the preload defaults to? I've browsed through my hard drive(s) but can't find it, and steam doesn't seem to indicate where it downloaded the files to....

Ah ha! Nvm - i finally found it in the "Steam" folder, buried away. I sort of wanted to have it install on my second HDD rather than the boot one, but it looks like you don't have that option?

you would need to install steam to the 2nd HDD in order to get steam to install the games there.

Yup, pre-loading mine right now :). Looks like they had a change of heart on the issue.

Well the two options available to them is,

1. Don't give out the key's, make everyone install their software and download the game from their servers before giving away the keys.

Or

2. Give the keys now, let Steam fork up for Download costs. Keep all those profits.

2. Is the obvious choice IMO.

Hahaha, the pre-load is "here's your key, and how to add it to Steam".:crazyeye:
