directX problems - can't start the game

All problems seem to be installing the Directx, i can install the game sucessfully.

I already have DirectX 9.0c installed on my computer, and i have no problems when playing other games that require it however i cannot seem to play Civ4. When installing the game, it attempts to install DirectX 9.0c (most recent) however this is where i begin top get problems. I click agree and then next, for about 5 seconds it is attempting to copy files and then i get a message saying that it hasn't not been tested for configuration with windows. I then click ok and it fails, telling me the source of my problems should be in the two logs i will list below.

Those are the logs it tells me to read however i do not understand them.

The game however installs and when i go to play it i receive this message:

This Application has failed to start because D3DX9_26.DLL was not found. Re-installing this application may fix this problem.

how can i reinstall it if i can install the Directx in the first place?
I also have Directx 9.0c on my computer already and after a test to see if this game will work on my computer, it said it was installed.

Can anybody help?

Try downloading from MS site, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en. I believe that will install all previous updates including the D3DX9_26.dll file.

Try downloading from MS site, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en. I believe that will install all previous updates including the D3DX9_26.dll file.

It didn't work, it downloaded all of the components but halfway through installing it said what it said when i tried to install it the first time, that it was not tested, which i find strange considering the site it is from :S

I did everything you told me to do, however, when i attempted to install the Directx the way you said, i still got the message saying that it hadn't passed windows testing and that it willnot install. It also said to contact the system administrator. I am the only one that uses this computer and so i am the admin! Is there a way to manually override the decision made by the computer?

All is well now, i found it out to be a internal problem. After searching on the microsoft site, i found one of the many solutions and managed to install the full directX .
