You can get rid of disease caused by jungle by clearing it, but is there any way to get rid of disease caused by flood plain?

Thanks!

I don't mind this happening later :( in the game; but when it happens
to my first city it is  . Usually restart  .

You have to discover some or other tech. It's either Engineering or Sanitation IIRC (the other one is for disease from jungles). Before that, you just pays your money and takes your chances. :)

I think the only way is to not have a citizen work the Flood Plain, but that kind of defeats the usefullnes of them. IIRC, late in the game Hospitals will stop both types of disease.

Yep! Cut down jungles (and marsh in C3C) to get rid of that risk and get shiny new grassland. :) To eliminate the risk of disease from flood plains, you need Sanitation (I just looked in the Civilopedia).

You can also eliminate flood plain disease by not working them... ;)

What seems to work is if when you get disease, move all workers off flood planes for 1 turn.
That's helpful!

Does anyone know for sure that hospitals stop disease from floodplains.
Hospitals do not, but learning sanitation does, so unless you're playing a mod, you'll never suffer disease from a floodplain in a city with a hospital.

I think disease varies from terrain to terrain, but I'm not sure. Sanitation may only remove flood plain disease because you can't change it, while jungles + marsh may simply need to be cleared regardless of tech. Mind you this is just speculation here.

What punkbass says makes sense because you have the ability to remove marshs and jungles, unlike flood plains.

And in spite of what has been written earlier on this thread, abstaining from working floodplain tiles does NOT stop the disease. Wether you work them or not, you always get exactly two turns of disease in your city, losing 2 citizens.
