Dissentions V2.0 Game Thread

My good Ronin! I have stood behind thee since the start.

And ye shall be rewarded with any such limb of the mutant that you desire. Maybe you can wave it at the Vampyre occasionally to remind him what happens to people who threaten my friends .

Sorry about the delay on gold. It has be updated in the end of day post, as well as on the first page.

100 gold on the Mutant. You greatly underestimate his power.

100 gold on the Mutant. You greatly underestimate his power.

I look forward to greatly underestimating your power.

[OOC: Aren't we meant to get fifty gold this past morning Tolis?]

I won 93 gold? BAH! That's horrible!

The Illithid is slumped on his bench, hissing.

Suddenly his head moves sharply upwards and his red, glowing eyes can be seen for a second before they are once more hidden by the grey hood. It screams and bursts into tears.

''It's not my fault! I thought he was gonna win! I really did!'' Came the high-pitched voice of the child, through the Illithid's sobs.

A snap, like the breaking of a bone.

''You horrible little brat! I explicitly told you not to bet that much. Why doesn't anybody in here listen to me.'' The merchant's voice came through the screaming.

''You're a selfish, horrible old man! And you're fat! And you have a pig's nose!''

The Illithid is suddenly thrown to the side, as if it had been hit.

A new voice emerges: A womans, kind and caring.

''Jonathon! What are you doing? Poor little child, you've hurt him, look.''

''I'm sorry, dear, but he did lose us a lot of money'' The merchant's voice replied, with the certain fake joliness of a short-tempered man attempting to control himself.

''I don't care, Jonathon! What do you think you're going to do with the money in here anyway? Doesn't seem to be many shops around here does there! That was absolutely no excuse! Come here child, I'll look after you.''

The voices fade out as the Illithid seems to regain control of itself.

It quickly returns to its tent, muttering under its breath.

@Ronin: Well, everyone bet on the Spellsword, so their prospective winnings were not high.

The Dreamer is relaxing by doing star-jumps. In fact, she's so 'relaxed' she can hardly breathe.

So much... for trust... in your teammate. I was... saving... that 80 gold... to buy a... Mister Fwuffums Robot Upgrade. With special... karate-chop... action.

She stops for a moment, and pulls on a string protruding from the back of Mister Fwuffums. He turns his head from side to side and emits his whimsical, carefree catchphrase.

I hunger for your bloooood.

Satisfied that her toy still works, Psquirrelstone gets back to her 'relaxation'.

Mutant seems to be the favorite right now? You all bet quickly. I think someone know something I dont. I place 200g on the mutant..

Expect the next day's post to be late. I will do my best, but it depends on my class schedual 2marrow morning since i have morning classes.

The mage masher blinks at the Spell Blade's damaged armor and frowns.

"Well, that isn't so pretty anymore.... I will bet 50 gold on the Mutant."

[OOC: I wish the combat victor got a small amount of the winning gamblers betting total. It'd make combat more strategic as the people fighting would want to convince people to bet on them. I also think betting might need a rework. It seems unfair to gain so little from a bet just because you decide to go with the favorite. Perhaps more incentive should be given to place bets. Perhaps a winning bet could generate Y/2+YxO where Y is the size of the individuals bet and O is the odds. This would mean that you would be certain to win over half of what you bet no matter if you bet on the favorite or the underdog. So it would be like the current system but there would be a larger incentive for big bets as there would be more to gain. With favorites possibly doubling your money for a reasonable bet while the underdogs could possibly triple or quadruple your cash total. If I host SnF3 as has been requested of me I may implement this feature.]

the issue with that is it generates gold. And you cant really generate gold.

The Forsaken steps out from his cubby in one wall from where he was meditating. He assessed both combatants, noticing things that others would consider undetectable, then walked over to the betting parlor and placed 100 gold on the Ronin's square.

OOC: 100 gold on the Ronin.

IC:

After doing this, he walked over to the Mutant, his 'teammate' (as much as anyone had teammates in this game where only one could win), and handed him a small slip of paper. It read:

"Sorry to have bet against you, but you know how it goes. Although I am hoping you will win, I'd like to win as well. If you'd like, I can pretend as if this never happened."

the issue with that is it generates gold. And you cant really generate gold.

[OOC: Perhaps players should bet against the house/establishment then instead of each other. A suitable mechanism would have to be dreamed up first.]

Grrrrrr. LEEKSOUP! TRAITOR! HOW DARE YOU VOTE AGAINST YOUR OWN TEAMMATE! I understand how teammates are in a one-man wins competition, but for now, at least RESPECT THEM!
