Why play with dlc when it stops some players from participating???
There are like 8 civs from G+K and some from vanilla civ5 who havent been used!
DLC add absolutly nothing to gaming experience - its just a money making machine for Firaxis, just paint a civ in a new colour and give it a fancy name - 1 hour of work - loads of cash.
I understand when dlc get used when absolutly all other civs been used and people are bored - but there is still austria and sweden left f.e. 2 very unique to play civs

Some players requested an occasional dlc game, the poll indicates that most of the community does have dlc and we have decided to support dlc games. They will not be common, but we will support one periodically.
In the TSG series, we have been through every vanilla civ twice. It is true we have not played every G&K civ yet, but we will.
For you, I can understand that dlc adds nothing to the gaming experience, to others it does.
Some of the dlc civs have been around longer than G&K, for sure.
Out of all the DLC's, the one I feel most passionate about (and love) is Ancient Wonders, which adds the Temple of Artemis, Statue of Zeus, and Mausoleum of Halicarnassus.
The availability of these does significant change the gaming experience. Also allows for more diverse approaches in the early game.

A Babylon domination game would be much more fun!cool! my guess for TSG44 settings is Babylon, Science, Warlord. mysterious map (probably continents). Think I'll start my practice game early!
Dom's a good guess too since we haven't had a Dom game at an easy level since TSG38. But a Culture game is even more overdue (last one at an easy level was TSG30)

According to the poll about 15% of the players don't have any DLC, so a vast majority do. Maybe 1 in 4 GotM could use DLC.
There will likely be a Steam sale in 2 months for the holidays. I highly recommend everyone who hasn't purchased the DLC yet should do so. Everything together will likely be in the 7-10 US dollar range.

yeah, you just need to wait. I got all DLC for 5,69 only, during the steam summer sale! (all but the cradle mappack)
Just take care, that you take the bundles (like Vikings and Explorers mappack bundle) and not the single DLCs. And if you do that during a steam sale you can get a huge discount!

Not sure how this will finally work itself out.
Do not plan to give up on dlc, however, we certainly have some things to learn in its use. Would appreciate patience as we do so.
there are usually some posts in various places on these forum when they happen. sometimes it requires daily checking when steam has their multi-week sales (christmas, summer, etc.). oftentimes, the deals are only for 24 hours and sometimes less. you'll need to check the regular forums pages like General Discussion and Gods and Kings. Sometimes it will get a frontpage note when these things are posted.
