DMI IV - The Grand Line (BtS)

Are you guys still looking for a player to start this ?
I'm a one piece junkie. What scared me off first is the storytelling prowesses of this crew. I play at chieftain in this field

blid, you're in. :) I'm quite pleased that we have finally found someone who actually knows the anime too. Should come in handy ;) . If I rethink it properly I guess you will have the honour of playing the first 20 turns. I will play only after the 2nd round of turnsets, and Rex and GreyFox will need some time yet to get to this. I'll post the save tomorrow. Cool that we're able to start this ! :yup:

Imhotep

while significant other had to
wait, wait ~ isn't the real story here the 'significant other' part? I didn't know GF had an SO, did anybody else?!?

also, will be back in action this weekend, so perhaps I could take Rex's spot (or even share it w/him)

And here we go ! :yup: :)

The Roster:

1. blid - The spot of honour for the One Piece Junkie - UP FOR 20 TURNS !
2. Ralph Jackson - ON DECK
3. berserks01 - Lowly Settler is enough for us
4. pholkhero - back for good and rollin'
5. GreyFox - When the Postman rings twice...he has no BtS...
6. Rex Tyrannus - mid-term entry after cleaning up SGs
7. Imhotep - playing after the 2nd round of turnsets

I'm looking forward to that... :yup:

Got the save. Would play that tomorrow.

Just for the crew to know, we already met two guys : Gorosei (Pro/Imp) and Fleet admiral Sengoku (Pro/Ind).

I omitted to mention that I'm a one piece anime junkie. I didn't even know about Gorosei. And since when is Franky a strawhat ? Yeah thank you for the spoilers Imhotep

Anyway, I was thinking that, maybe, we don't need a worker right now ?

I'm feeling sick with those corn/floodplains/grasslands. Gomu Gomu no :vomit:

I would go with a warrior->settler and mining->BW to whip that city.

There is decent space for some production cities around. My concern is to have enough units to fogbust and avoid having barbarians pillage our precious devil fruits. If they go at the capital, the strawhat would defend and we are not allowed to do that. Early axes would help for offensive defense.

I would wait for input on the opening strategy. This is quite unusual like Imphotep advertised.

Mining -> BW is obviously the way to go, but I wonder abt its effectiveness ... since we have to counter the whipping unhappiness ... This probably means 1 whip per 10 turns (we are at normal speed, right?).

We obviously would grow faster than 10 turns, so probably some techs that changes the farms and plantations into cottages/workshops would be quite high on the list .... same for those allowing a specialists ....

Look who's talking ... someone who hadn't even got the game

@blid:

I actually had to do some research to get the amount of AI together. There are not too many main characters in One Piece. Gorosei is actually not one person but five - they are the leaders of the World Government. Which we know outright because they are our biggest enemy. Same goes for Fleet Admiral Sengoku - he is the leader of the Navy as part of the forces of the World Government.

@GreyFox:

Perhaps one shouldn't make nifty comments without seeing the save or even a close look on the screenies  ;) . IF you look closely at blid's screenshot you'll notice something important about our capital which renders your comment absolutely useless...

So like planned, I started by building a warrior to grow a bit before starting a settler. I didn't do the maths to know what size we would reach, we'll just see.

The scout popped a map from the first hut, revealing more food to the west. Sushi time

01.jpg

He popped 50 gold next and found the location of one of the enemies

02.jpg

I delayed popping the next hut till we get mining, to get ... yet another map of our enemy future lands

03.jpg

Like I said, we should grow a bit before the warrior is done

04.jpg

Insane :crazyeye:

Our scout met his fate against that monster of a lion. You may have recongnized Mohji the lion tamer ? He attacked us on a hill cross a river (21% odds) and won. If you ever meet him or one of the Buggy crew, take revenge

The warrior took 15 turns to complete, so the settler should be done in ... 2 turns

05.jpg

Insane. We already had a first teaser about that monster of a capital with the globe theatre. Now let's uncover the whole thing :

06.jpg

Fushia town is now holding a million souls at a crazy size 11 after 16 turns. To the globe theatre, you add National park and National epic. So much for the two national wonder limit . Our first great person is due in 2 turns !!! To be honest, I didn't foresee any of those where I opened the save. I just palyed it and got overwhelmed

The production potential of this city is huge, even with a single hammer from the capital. That would be the power of overflow

08.jpg

The settler overflow went into a barracks completed within 1 turn with yet hammers to spare. Notice that we are at size 14 now. With some MM, one can get enough overflow to finish the pyramids within a ridiculous time. We can use the extra workers to fogbust or just to feed the lions (delete)

The first great person was a great artist, named Miles Davis. Fushia town started to appreciate jazz music and Luffy made friends with Miles and wanted to learn playing. Somehow, he overdid it when he tried the trumpet (Gomu Gomu no Fuusen)

07.jpg

The strawhats knew right away it was not a good idea. They couldn't just fire Miles so they convinced him to accompagny the settler party south. There's plenty of a precious metal, that can be used to refine trumpets. Sure you can't pass on that opportunity!

I tried to put on a dot map but gave up. I feel like we need both copper and gold in that second city, but couldn't figure out a global pattern. You got the grid, express yourself.

Imhotep, this sure seems like a very promising game

save

I see 2nd city 2W of the copper south of the warrior. That'd give the second city gold, copper, sheep, cow, and stones.

I'm glad to see we're off ! :yup: :)

@blid:

This was just the opening I expected :) . Thanks for your enthousiastic report ! :goodjob: You even put some One Piece content in it - I'm glad to have you aboard for this game !

It's something special about designing a map and a scenario and then seeing it played out. The pleasure I felt back with DMI I - Menu Surprise is coming back :) . And there is still more to come - I promise :) ...

Ok Got it (for 15 turns I guess) will have report up late Tuesday night. tips gratefully received!!

Cheers

Ralph

Oh, my mistake:

The Roster:

1. blid - will he meet Buggy and his Band to take revenge ?
2. Ralph Jackson - UP NOW for 15 turns
3. berserks01 - ON DECK

4. pholkhero - sends some prayers to heaven that his PC will work
5. GreyFox - location: where no one has BtS yet
6. Rex Tyrannus - work-horse with the highest sense of duty
7. Imhotep - playing after the 2nd round of turnsets

I see 2nd city 2W of the copper south of the warrior. That'd give the second city gold, copper, sheep, cow, and stones.
i thought that, but we lose access to some hills that way ~

maybe this:
09.jpg

red: production
green: Commerce or more GPF (or maybe 1 W of corn for Commerce?)
blue: commerce

What about red 1W of copper to get even more hills and the fresh water bonus ?

we would lose the sheep ~ @ first glance, it looks like we may not have enough food to work all those hills w/o. I say "at first glance" b/c i'm too lazy to count.

Well, I know the ideal spot for the uber production city possible there...but I won't tell of course ;)

did the counting, we fall even (as long as early morning drinking cofee counting goes). But this means a bit of slow growth at larger sizes. That would leave the sheep for blue though

EDIT : the not so sleepy me sees we'll be missing one plain hill (drinking second coffee at work)

I think red is fine where it is with gold, copper, sheep, cow, and 4 plains hill. And another city can take the deer, clams, and hills on the top left corner. However, I would move green 1W to take those 2 hills and still have pigs, sheep, corn, and the same number of flood plains.

Yeah, thanks for your help, ass ~ ;) :)

good points re: the deer site, and my original green WAS sorely lacking in production . . .
