Byzantine Maritime Trade Policy
The Byzantine Empire, seeing that the foriegn nations of the world wish to continue trade, yet also seeing that Byzantium must maintain security over and around the illegal, rogue nations of Venice and Rome, will agree to not harm foriegn merchant shipping, however, foriegn military vessels caught supporting the ASP shall be fired upon without hesitation, as Byzantium must protect it's war effort. Naval forces which are not involving themselves in the conflict, however, will be spared from any harm.
Let it be known that the Byzantine Empire maintains membership with the GDI, and any unprovoked attack on the Byzantine Empire is an attack on the GDI. Iroquois involvement in a war which does not concern them will not be tolerated, yet Iroquois trading and shipping interests will not be harmed.
Now is not the time for the Iroquois nation to attempt to assert itself around the world as some kind of hegemon. We will not tolerate their involvement in our war, yet again, we will not harm their trading or shipping - nor shall we harm the trading or shipping of any other foriegn nation for that matter, except that of the nations of the ASP.
Byzantium will agree to the allowance of foriegn, peaceful shipping, but cannot garuntee the continued existance of the Venetian state - a former territory of the Byzantine Empire before the powers that be chose to tear it from it's brethren. The Romanoi will be reunited. Such is inenvitable.
