Mikoyan, is this only happening on CivFanatics or on all sites? It has been happening to me on civfanatics since yesterday and the last time it happened was about 4 days before CivFan crashed, so maybe it's another precursor...

I have been experiencing some of that lately. Not just here at CF.At first I thought it was mouse gesturing I was doing unintentionally but now I'm not sure.

One bad thing is due to the state of the internet,Opera is an inconsistant browser.

Must be the site then. I get it too, but only at CFC. I saw it about a month ago and then it went away. Is it something temporary, I wonder?

I can't download attachments off this forum either with Opera. Always get the attachment.php file (some puny file that means nothing). Gotta still load up IE to get those.

Have you tried renaming the file before the Download starts? Like if it's a Zip-File, you just rename it to file.zip. Might work...

Hmm, Opera has started to, instead of loading a page the normal way, refreshing the page over and over again till it has loaded, this takes over 2 minutes. Is it supposed to act like this?
Oh, good. I was going to start a thread to ask about this. It happened to me all weekend; just at CFC. Here's hoping it's just temporarary, like some have suggested.

Yes and that doesn't seem to cure it. However, for some reason, the right-click and "save target " seems to suddenly work today. I know it didn't before.... weird... The left click still messes up. Thanks though.

The reloading sometimes leaves my pages half-loaded too. I did a few searches on the Opera forum, under "looping" or something like that and it was reported once, as far as I can find. On that occasion, it was with another forum. I couldn't find any other help or information on this.

Ah yes, isn't it lovely?
I just had to wait for 4:53 minutes to end up with this:

I don't know what the deal is but today its near impossible to get thru to civfanatics with Opera.Maybe this thread got someone's attention

No such problems with Mozilla.

I'm gonna give it a try, just for the focus feature I've read here. Another forum I visit is viscious with that. Start typing out a reply, look up and another window has appeared, nothing was typed. Another thing> WOW I thought I was the only one left still using win95 :P

Its not looping anymore. I also switched back to the New CFC style from using the Mac style around the same time but I wouldn't guess they are related.

I find if I have any connection or slow loading problems with Opera, it is because of my connection and not the browser.

I just can't use IE any more. Every time I try a mouse gesture in it, it does nothing (of course). The best best best part I cannot live without in Opera is the "Open window in background". It is so so handy for opening 4 or 5 windows in a row on the new threads here at CFC. Non-obtrusive browsing :) !

However, my yahoo mail has an ugly large font in Opera that doesn't happen in IE and I am trying to figure out why the text size is different between the 2.

Somebody did something during the downtime cuz now its working fairly well.

Features-yes.Excellent
Performance-not so good.Inconsistant.Not the browser's fault but a fact none the less.

I like it.
It opens 2 or 3 popups in the same window all in the backround so I'm never bothered with them.
It's a lot faster than IE loading some pages, others pages are just slightly faster.
Nice to see exactly what the browser is doing.. sending request, recieving data, etc.
Having the browser crash and making the whole system unstable is something I won't miss.

My only complaint is that you have to put the mouse cursor over the scrollbar to use the wheel. I've had no problems since I found the option to make it work. Don't remember what option it was, but when I first installed it just hung on every page. heh

[EDIT] Another thing I like is the java works! It's been over a year without my ie java working. I've spent so much time trying to fix it. Everything short of formatting.
Please no suggestions, I've tried everything and won't waste another minute there.

I like this browser, it fits really well the way I browse CFC. I open a thread and sometimes answer it, then I hit back to return to the forum or main forum page. Opera loads the previous page you visited much faster than IE!

That save as *.PHP is getting aggravating. WTH is a PHP file? So I have to go and open IE anyway when I want to save something. Any ideas?

I have been using the free Opera browser for a few months, because I like some of its features, especialy speed.

Last night, when opening the CFC forums, my computer locked up and a thin vertical line began to spread across the top of my screen, going down line by line. I could not Ctrl-Alt-Del out, and I feared it might be dangerous so I restarted my computer with its power button (yeah, yeah I know its bad).

Now Opera doesnt work at all. When I start it up, the screen opens and asks if I want to browse where I left off, but then locks up. So far, all other programs work OK.

Good thing I didnt uninstall IE, as I am using that to post right now. I will uninstall and re-D/L Opera to try it again eventualy, but I am trying to figure out what happened right now.

Could that have been a virus? Was my system attacked?
