I like some wines, but generally prefer good beer.

good Aussie Shiraz, some merlots, real Reislings and a few others. Also agree with Loaf Warden on cognac and brandy.

But Loaf Warden, you're an Alaskan. I've always found that's a state where people have the time - or find it - to have a little more taste than the rest of the '49. If I may be so bold as to say so... :D

You'd be surprised. This is very much a beer-drinking, game-hunting, Republican-voting kind of state, albeit one that also smokes a lot of weed. But I accept the compliment anyway. :D

But as a rule, it seemed to be good beer, good huntin', libertarian Republican', fine steaks and decent salmon sort of folk. I'm a British Columbian, I'm allowed to notice such things... :D

Wine is O.K., but I like sake better. And yes, if I were stranded on an island with nothing to drink or eat, I'd eat my own legs first. :P

I think that Beer and Wine both have their individual uses.

Beer is great for a hot summer day on the patio or while camping. But I love wine this time of year where the weather's getting bad and summer is long over.

Getting drunk on beer makes you feel kinda loopy and bloated and "full". Wine on the other hand makes you feel fuzzy and warm all over - nice when you just want to curl up with a good book or a movie.

Beer is more social - great for parties. Wine's more appropriate with strawberries and cheese (and crackers) with your significant other on a quiet weekend evening.

yup, I love wine, but I can't stand beer. I prefer sweet, light wines (luckily for me they are usually cheap). My current favorite is Round Hill Chardonnay. I also like most Australian, Chilenian and South African wine that gets here.

Used to like all kinds of wine, but watching people womit of it every weekend for half a year really makes you loose your appetite for it.. Now I only like white(boheme), and only to chicken, and the occational glass of cherry...

Plexus comes from a wine making family, hence, he is allowed a glass at family get togethers.

It's okay, I guess. Makes me sleepy. I prefer cola.

I like wine becsue it gets you drunk without getting you fat like beer, or giving you ill side-effects like distilled spirits. Plus you can get heavy and crude tasting stuff very cheap. The "winos" know whats up.

EDIT: "becsue" is not an indication of drunkeness for all you smart asses out their. Nor am I dumb, just waiting for sleep.

Wine is one of my passions. I have an extensive cellar that is down to a low point of about 50 cases.

Some expensive - some cheap. we like to explore villages in Northern Italy. Each has their cantina socialli that acts as a co-operative wine maker. 99% of the wines are terrible but occasionally some are great. My car holds about 10 cases.

My kids have been drinking wine with their evening meal since they were about 10 yo. It's just part of our normal life.

Tried to buy a winery once but the deal didn't go through. One day though it will happen.

I have no palate for wine whatsoever - all wines taste like vinegar to me :( from expensive wines to cheap wines they all taste yurk. Even expensive chapaign tastes foul. Must be the way I'm made....

Suddenly I don't feel so sheepish about my stash.;)
