Do you reload?

Are you a reloader?

  • Yes - I reload all the time and have to have it all my own way!

I think it's basically very simple.
If a utility (which includes reloading) leads you to play other moves than you were going to play without it, then it is cheating - even if it's allowed - and should IMHO not be used.
And allowing its use in a competition renders the competition meritless.

Just bought civ3 deluxepack month ago and first 5 games in chieftain/warlord I did a lot of reloadings when things go wrong, like losing battle or captured city flip back and lose massive army. That made me angry and frustrated (I played civ2 earlier). I noticed that reloading didnt make it better. I lost some another battle or another city flipped anyway. So I stopped save/reload mess and started to try play differently.
Preparing to fight with more units in stacks and not placing whole army in captured city helped and no need to reload. Some stupid mistakes in happiness and money sliders will still happen all the time but thats the game. Just like someone said, its like Chess-game: "If you made bad move you cant take it back". Well, there will always be next game. I dont need to reload for those little things anymore.

Would it be wonderful if you could have saving points in real life? Like before you make
big deals or somethig else...???. If all goes to hell, you could always reload latest save and try again...???
ok.
Today finished my first gotm game (41) and I did reload from autosave couple of times because of some weird nvarm.sys or nvmcp.sys BSOD crashes and I was played dozens turns without save and I really didnt want to play that again.

I don't reload, unless I make a mistake involving a slip of the mouse. So if I intend to, say, acquiesce to a threat (because the border he is on is not yet properly defended, or because what he is asking for is pittance to me) but instead rebuff him and instigate an unwanted and unnecessary war, or click on the "give for free" button instead of "what would you trade me for what I am offering" (Yes, I know that these aren't what they say exactly, but bear with me), giving the other guy something I wanted to trade. I also reload when I order a unit to go somewhere I didn't want it to, on account of a slip of the mouse. So I only reload if my mouse screws up. My mouse screws up alot, so you can understand why I never played Iron Man in SMAC.

it's perfectly fine to start new games until you have good land. have you read bamspeedy's beyond sid article? i don't think it was by lucky chance he got wheat in flood plains and cattle. he must of start over a few times (im not sure but i think he mentioned that he did restart a few times).

anyone who can beat beyond sid with a bad starting position please tell me.
