Do you think hit or miss civs like spain and germany are boring?

Either you hit a home run at the start and then win easy (boring) or you strike out and you get killed (also boring).

It seems this kind of sucks either way so I never play these civs, am I missing something?

Check out the vanilla enhanced mod for a more balanced gaming experience. It is always being improved for the very reasons you outline. We really want the game to be both harder to win and harder to lose.

I don't find them boring. Spain is the ultimate gamble, but I usually play terra and/or reroll if I don't get a good wonder ;)

Germany isn't a hit or miss, as the 25% reduction will save you thousands upon thousands of gold throughout a game.

I find civs with bonuses for which you don't need to do anything - France, +2 culture everywhere, Babylon, free scientist at Writing; those are just some examples - much less interesting.
I prefer situational or hit and miss bonuses. Those civs are usually worse, but I find them more attactive to play with.

I prefer to play with the less powerful civs on a little lower difficulty than going more difficult with an easier civ.

I play as America a lot and have a lot of fun with it (even if I don't win a lot yet).

Germany's not a hit-or-miss Civ.

I find all the civs in civ 5 boring.

Spain is the least boring Civ, in my opinion. Every game unfolds completely different for them. Even on a "bad" start as Spain, you still ought to get +6 free :c5happy: and 600 :c5gold: early in the game. Plus, the Conquistador is a very solid unit (no city penalty) even if you never settle with it.

And yes, if you get a totally bum deal, like not even sighting a NW in the first 70 turns, rerolling is an option...

What are you talking about

you just have to make good use of their bonusses as germany build 2 warriors early to get the best advantage keep exploring and killing barbarians. THe bonus of germany is usefull in the beginning of the game and in the late game and middle it is a just a extra bonus that all...

As spain keep exploring and find natural wonders... This is a good bonus througought the game...

Both civs have good units so make good use of them As germany battle in the medieval you will have so many landskneghts(dont know how to write it- nobody can stop you As spain battle in the renaissance

I dont know what you are talking about these are just good civilizations even if you cant fully exploit their bonusses there unique abilities aren't super powerfull but they can give you some good advantages on certain maps and way of playing...

Its the same as if you are rome and dont have iron you can't make you're unique units but still have you're unique ability. Or if you are arabia and you are at war with everyone

I feel that Spain's strength lies more with its units. But yeah, Germany's ability is very situational (and in my opinion) more appropriate for the Mongols.

Never played Spain yet but Germany is monster if played right.

Agreed. I'd rather Germany had a science boost.

I love playing as Spain because how spread out your empire gets if you try to maximize the UA bonus. Makes it a rather fun diplomacy heavy game trying to keep Civs from knocking out all your colonies. if you get unlucky with the natural wonders, the UUs are still really impressive

Um, hehe, no.... I find it more fun to play a hit or miss civ than a predictable one. Although I haven't played Spain nearly enough, I plan to enjoy playing as Isabella in the future. But I won't wear a dress! :D As for Germany, I like playing them when I can.
