When scenarios and multiplayer comes out, definitely yes. Add these to Civ3, and what ground does Civ2 have to stand on, honestly?

Thanks for that last option Smash. :) Without MP I cannot see playing it much more, unless what I see as "problems" are "fixed". :D

But Civ 2 was and is a much better game with scenario building.

As for me, last night I played Resident Evil 2 Platinum, as Claire.

Does that answer your question?

well so far its a pretty even split between for sure and we'll see when/if mp and scenarios come.

Firaxis' mission is clear.Just playing the normal game isn't going to be enough to keep going for too, too, long.
If it can be done it would be great.I have my doubts about MP(just logistics) but imagine a Red Front with unit capturing, bombarding, animated units, real strategic resources....I think/hope scenarios will save this game.
BUT...it will be alot more work to make a scenario. Will it ever be possible?..original civ2 couldn't read an events.txt and things started to die....I wonder if they are going to use the exact same marketing plan as civ2 had....so far it sure is.

In civ2, MP was fun, but i also found years of replayability in SP. Probably because despite the AI being a push-over, there was a time limit, so it was a challenge to beat a previous score. But in civ3, for some reason it is just not as fun anymore. Already it is hard for me to stay interested for more than 5 turns in the industrial ages, when the AI becomes a push-over (it cant use artillery, so you can roll right over it with arty and inf). So in the industrial age the AI is as helpless as in civ2, but now theres not enough improvements to build, too many units to have to move, and it loses its fun right then. MP would DEFINATELY change that, knowing your up against a competent human that could launch a massive combined-arms attack on your most imortant cities creates a lot more suspense than an AI who is still making longbowmen despite the availability of infantry.

Whenever I got bored playing civ2 I would fire up a scenario or get into an mp game and I would be hooked right back in. I think eventually civ3 will support sceanrios and that will be great, but I dont think it will ever be able to support mp play as there is just too much data transfer involved - the internet will need to be re-invented before it can handle the load.

Civ 3 seems to be the only game that I play constantly anymore. Some games I play once or twice, but Civ 3 just makes me keep coming back. I think that it has solid gameplay, and of course, if you are a member of this forum, you probably think the same thing. Of course I have heard A LOT about how much beter Civ 2 was than Civ 3, but I can't go back and play Civ 2 after getting Civ 3. I think that the additional options and styles of gameplay really enhance the game. Also, when the multiplayer version comes out, it will even be more addictive.
