Inspiration I found myself in the chat room during the forum upgrade and was curious about who was the best player on the website. The name Sir Pleb came up and I ran a search to see if he had written any articles that I could learn from...I stumbled upon his SID attempt and it compelled me to try my own HOF attempt

Pre-game planning My first thoughts were of what difficulty I would try for. I was pumped from Sir Pleb's thread and wanted to go for SID...but then I woke up and decided to something a little more my speed. I have beaten emperor several times...but only by diplomatic victory. So I thought I should try something I know I can score high in but nothing so easy that I become bored with the attempt...Regent. As for the map....I wanted to play on a Pangea map since (for me at least) it is easier to wage war. However I also wanted a 4300
+ domination limit and that was hard to come by in pangea so I switched to archipelago. I decided on wet and warm settings to increase the amount of food, set no barbarians and AI agression to its lowest setting. So I was set all I needed now was a decent start and that shouldn't take more than a couple tries...right? I used Moonsingers program (love ya mean it ) and for two days (count em two) I had the program running non-stop (it would stop periodically until I could manually reset it). Until Finally I found the start I had been dreaming of:

LandGrabbing I built a warrior, settler, worker, settler then setup my cities to begin expanding like Dom Deluis' waistline. I built a granary in all the cities and dedicated one city as the worker factory while the other two became the settler factories.

While I was expanding I noticed something disturbing. I had no Iron nor did I have any luxury items. I thought about restarting but I really didn't want to try another two days to get going so I trudged on. I kept my military to simply warriors and curraughs whose only real mission was to explore.

I recieved two SGLs!!! One I used for the Great Lighthouse and the other for pyramids which gave me a well timed GA. I began mobilizing my forces and launched an attack on the Americans and continued to expand into empty areas. I quickly made short work of them and expanding into their land. I also began expanding into continents to my east and south.

After a successful military campaign America managed to escape elimination by shipping a settler off to far side of the map. I was content to sue for peace and allow them to survive for now. I had already prepared some galleys to ship the remainder of my force to the eastern continent to meet up with my other forces to face the evil mongol empire. Here is the map at 1000 a.d. after the fall of Mongolia.

It wasn't long before I turned my attention to Japan and Germany. I decided to fight the war on both fronts simultaneously. Japan fell easily but Germany I underestimated. They had a nice compliment of archers, pikemen, and medevil infantry...so I made peace with germany and finished off Japan then returned to Germany in greater force. Portugal became the next target and I launched my largest invasion force yet. I sent 4 large galley stacks with 20 + calvary in each and strategically placed them around Portugal and simultaneously struck. It was a slaughter. Here is the world in 1450 a.d.

I'm currently playing a Chieftan HOF Attempt with a domination limit around 4200 tiles.

I think his domination limit is at least 4300. My current Sid attempt has a domination limit of 4410.

My next Invasion was against the Island nation of Arabia. Arabia has been my rival all game and defeating them would take a serious invasion. Not to mention they had declared war on me before I was ready to invade and triggered their golden age by winning a battle with the Ansar Warrior.

I used the leftover forces against Portugal as well as the forces I had built up from various continents. In all I had over 150 calvary invading Arabia. I also made a military alliance with spain who shared the continent with Arabia. To say it was overkill was an understatement. After running through Arabia I routed spain. Now all that was left was Russia....and that would be the easiest win yet. They had no resources or allies to trade with. Also their continent was so small they were far behind in technology. Still I invaded with more than enough and only left one island for the russians to live on so I don't gain a conquest victory. Now was time to go into milking phase. I built extra cities but was careful not to excede the 65 percent domination. I also irrigated all my land and cut down forest to increase food supply. I set luxury to 100 percent basically only needed to worry about pollution. I'm on pace to gain a position on the HOF board but not sure at what position just yet. Here is the world currently:

Its a sad day...I came within a hundred points of the number 10 position for regent . Oh well I learned quite a bit and hopefully my next attempt will be better.

Are you talking about the main score list? What was your victory condition? The fastest finish tables are by no means full, you should still submit the game to get a slot!

I finished in 2050 so I doubt thats a fastest finish. However I may try a fastest finish with a jag rush .

Remember, the subtables are also broken down by map size, plenty of which are technically fastest finishes but were actually huge milk runs at 2050. There's over 2000 slots free, meaning if you submit the game there's around a 98% chance of being posted on at least one list.

Again, I politely urge you to submit it. If nothing else it'll shut everyone else up before they surf in and beg you to submit it too.

A finish in 2050AD is an Histographic Victory.....there are new Tables in the HOF for this Victory condition!

(Doesn't matter how you win [or lose] as long as its 2050AD!)
