Does anyone have Galactic Civilizations?

Is it any good? If you also have MOO3, which is better?

Games cost ~$100 a pop where I live so the game has to be good and last a long time, a Civ length lifetime would be best but I haven't found many that reach that mark.

Other suggestions welcome as well.

I have the Gal Civ demo, its nice, but no $100 worth, order it off the net, still a steep $40 (a price which I personally think is about $10 to much for it, but that only going by the demo which apperntlly has a lot cut out of it) MOO3, from what I hear was rushed, and turend out to be VERY crappy, though I also heard that it got a lot better after some patch, so to answer your question- try to get Galciv of the internet, but first download the demo to make sure you like the game, do the same with MOO3 if possible

I was looking in stores today and GalCiv is AUS$65, while MOO3 is AUS$95. What reviews I have read about MOO3 agree with what you said Xen.
Downloading Demos is not really an option when the best I can get is 40K.

Well all I can say to that is to try it, you might get lucky, I rember that happening somtimes when I had 40K as well...

Galactic Civilizations is a sweet game. IMO, It is much better than MOO3 but not as good as Civ3.

I have GalCiv and love it from day one! It is a much better game than Moo3 is IMHO.

Do not waste your precious money on garbage like Moo3. Definately get GalCiv if you're into TBS space games.

I bought GalCiv off the recommendation of someone else on this forum a few months ago.. I don't know if it was worth the $39.95 US I paid for it, but it's not a bad little game. I've moved on to a couple of other games, but if you can wait until the price drops a bit, it's worth getting.

I think it's great! Plus they're releasing a FREE expansion pack...

There's a growing amount of fan-based stuff out there too.

GC is certainly better than Moo3 but it have not atchieved the level of SpaceEmpires or Stars. Just simplified Civilization in the space. Too simplified. AI is cheating. Few good innovations. I don't like it.

I have played in it some time ago. Not impressed - imho it is simplfied version of Civilization1-2-3, that is not good.

I've got it and play it more than Civ now. Its a great game that is almost constantly updated. When you get it make sure to get the patch to 1.05, its a huge improvement. There is also a FREE expansion pack due out soon.

I like the idea of Empires in the Metaverse. I joined the CDG Creations League. They have a lot of mods at their site and are also the people responsible for the DyP mod for Civ3.
