Does playing a civ with a butt ugly color bother you?

Denmark should really get something like red and white and not brown. The other colour that really bothers me is Germany, for some reason I can't look at that grey for very long. It's just to Prussian and I would have liked it more if Germany had some other colour, but I'm probably the only one bothered by that. :P

I'm not really bothered by the colors themselves (though some of them make territories hard to see).

What I do wish they'd change is add a friggin boundary line on the map for Civs like France, Japan and Greece whose colors melt into the rest of the map (France's territory looks like Ocean, and Japan and Greece look like clouds. When Japan and Greece have developed next to each other, you can't tell where one's territory stops and the other's begins!).

You know, I wish it didn't bug me but it does. In Civ IV I really wanted to like the Native Americans but they had that ugly brown color. I don't like the Danes in V for the same reason. Being able to choose your color would be a nice feature.

I don't really think of any of the colors as "ugly" to the point of being bothersome. What does bother me is when it's hard to distinguish them. In IV I had the damndest time trying to figure out where Germany's boarders were because the color was too light and translucent to see very well. Plus a few civs like Rome and China have colors so close that I couldn't easily remember which was which. I'm actually quite happy with V. Germany is still a bit hard to see sometimes, but I tend not to have trouble telling anyone apart.

There's a few color combos I like better (Rome, Mongolia, Spain, Babylon, America, Germany, Denmark, France) and a few I don't care for (Inca, Siam, Aztec).

I play a ton of Siam who I think is 2nd worst color combo, and never play the pleasingly hued Mongols, Germans, or Romans.

One thing that does kinda stink is when you have two very similarly colored civs next to each other (Mongolia and Spain come to mind) and you can't see border differences well on the small world map.

afaik red and black were preferred in China during the early dynastic period, though blue and white were favored in parts of China during the Tang if I'm not mistaken

Those of you who think India looks like grassland on the minimap, try fiddling with your monitor settings. They're clearly distinct to me.

Except I find the Iroquois a bit strange. In itself it's a nice colour green, but the Iroquois' starting bias is forest, so my whole screen is just bland green if I'm looking at them.

Wait, they're green? I swear, they look grey to me. Maybe my monitor is off, too...

Yes, some colours are annoying. And it doesn't get better if you have a blindness for red and green. (Don't really know how it is called in English... colourblind?)
I literally can't tell any of the red/brown/green/grey civs by their colour. They all look so much the same! That's why I like egypt. :)

Anyway, since I always choose my own civ on purely aesthetic reasons, I only play a few and never touch the others. I would really like the option to choose a colour for my civ.

Very funny, although to be fair I was being accurate because my comments indicate that I do care a tiny bit, so I could care even less!

Gray and Gold like cIV Byzantine. Well, Look like I want to change civ's color as well. Like play Red-white Siam in the world without England and, of course , Another Siam. I think Navy-Yellow of Sweden in 1066 Scenario is noble which would MUCH BETTER for France than... sky blue and um.. beige? And I don't like when I want either fictional Green-White warrior civ fight with Aztec-ish Red-White civ, and realize I can't do it. Hope Firaxis give it as ciV's finisher, at least.

i think the colors are just fine. I've never been bothered by it and when i first started playing i thought the game looked so cool the colors were just part of it.

What about color combinations like black and red, blue and lime, gray-blue and white, light purple and blue, pink and white. Things you see often, but not in-game. Being able to choose your colors would be a great addition to the game.
