Does Stalin really belong in the game?

Diallo's family got 3 million dollars in 2004.

Much more than his life was worth. Is that your way of saying he'd have been shot 41 times if he'd been white?

Bell had previously been arrested on drug and firearms charges. The friends with him had been arrested on similar charges. On the night of the shooting a friend of his got into an argument and threatened to get a gun.One of Bell's friends was heard to say "yo, get my gun" as they left the scene. Fearing a shooting may occur, the detective followed the men to their car while alerting his backup team, prompting the team to confront Bell and his companions before they could leave the scene. The undercover, plain-clothed officer who never identified his status ordered Bell to raise his hands after getting in his car. Instead, Bell accelerated the car and hit Gescard Isnora then an unmarked police minivan. A toxicology report reportedly showed that he was legally intoxicated at the time of the shooting.

Naturally requiring a police officer to shoot 31 times. That means he must have emptied his clip, reloaded at least once, and continued to fire. But since you don't believe there's any recent historical pattern of excessive use of force against black people I guess that doesn't mean anything either.

The disenfranchisement effort was intended to take away the voting rights of convicted felons, not any specific ethnic group.

It just coincidentally happened to disenfranchise non-felons of a specific ethnic group who have traditionally been disenfranchised and who voted about 90% against the Governor's brother. Could just as easily have happened to white people.

I got most of that information from the links you posted, next time find articles that support your arguments.

Police shooting immense numbers of times at unarmed black men, a staggeringly high poverty rate, much harsher penalties for drugs black people use than for similar drugs used by whites, and the grand tradition of not letting legally eligible black people vote. You're right, all I've done is proven that you're right and white people are just so picked on.

I don't know what would have happened if he was white, nobody does, but, the family received the compensation they deserved even though no amount of money can replace a life.

It wouldn't have happened if he had just stopped what he was doing and submitted to whatever the officer was asking him to do. Also, emptying a clip, reloading, and firing some more only takes a couple of seconds.

Again, if they didn't commit the crimes in the first place, it wouldn't have happened.

The police officers reacted in a way that anyone would have if they thought that the person was armed.

Blacks have every chance that white people have in getting jobs and getting into schools. They are even helped out by diversity laws which require schools and businesses to have a certain amount of minorities.

Why don't they stop using and selling drugs instead of complaining about how harsh the punishments are? If people don't want to be punished harshly they shouldn't commit crimes. Its that simple.

The disenfranchisment project was an attempt to take the right to vote away from convicted felons. There were some mistakes and those mistakes were later corrected.

I'm happy to let your remarks stand for themselves, I don't think I have to add anything more.

Sorry for the double post everybody

I want to delete this message. Not sure how...

No. He doesn't belong in the civgames at all. He also killed jews after WW2. If no one knew that.

Awwww, Oldschooler88, you deleted the post about how I was calling you a racist, even though I said no such thing (about anyone). That was the best part, aside from the fact that you were responding to my response to someone else entirely!

The US has built itself a fantastically asristocratic system, don't you think? Everyone gets an equal chance? In America?
So that's why 30% of black people in, say, Florida, have served prison time. So were they economically marginalised, or have a predisposition to crime?

I believe the latter is a view commonly held by white supremacist organisations, and is effectively, cadswallop.

So the USA is a pure Meritocracy then? Then why are men like your president and all his little cousins in power? Nepotism, I think.

If you're in an economic rut in America, it seems to be near impossible to escape, aside from the one-in-a-million Herbert Hoover success story, and immeasurably harder if you're of an ethnic minority. It's simply a Capitalist Feudalism :/
Do people in the UK honestly believe all that nonsense?

Everyone deserves an equal chance to pursue happiness, but nobody is entitled to happiness.
What does "equal chance" mean? What does "happiness" mean? Seriously.

I'm talking healthcare, Public education, etc.
I agree on all that. Except by "Healthcare" I believe everyone should get the same healthcare program. That doesn't mean each person gets unlimited healthcare.

I'm not sure what post hoc ergo propter hoc even means.
Basically it means that because X happened, then Y happened, and they're kind-of related, then X caused Y. Which is nonsense. Y could have been caused by any number of things, or any combination of things. X could have partly contributed to Y, or it could have been a simple coincidence.

What you said was a valid point, but it does not disprove mine.
Yes, I agree X could have been the 100% and sole causal factor. But it's very unlikely. You strongly implied that was the case, so your statement was very misleading by giving the impression that a both unproven and statistically unlikely event was indeed the case.

Anyway, lets drop this and talk about Stalin now...
Sure. :) I believe Stalin should be in the game.

Also, so many places have requirements such as at least 15% minorities. Infact, lets say a white person and minority are trying to go to college. They both make pretty good grades. There grades are exactly equal. The minority has the better chance of getting accepted. I'm not saying thats even a bad thing, but you can't say white people have the upper hand.
Well, I'll say it. Reverse discrimination is just as unjust as the original discrimination. Yes, it's a bad thing, as was the original. Both of them are outrageous and unConstitutional.

can I humbly suggest that your problems in life haven't come from being white?
Did I miss something? I didn't see where he blamed his problems on reverse discrimination. You're attacking the person (instead of the discussion), which is bad even when it's justified.

Wodan

I didn't attack the person, I attacked his discussion of how oppressed white people are. It was justified, although perhaps too easy to be worth the effort.

No. He doesn't belong in the civgames at all. He also killed jews after WW2. If no one knew that.

Is that your criteria then. Killed jews = bad, did not kills jews = good? You know, I'm starting to think that this focus on one particular race is a racism in itself. Nobody remembers the millions of other people who died. I think it is important to recognise that jews weren't the only ones to suffer.

As for healthcare, I'm just saying ours should be like Canada's, or Frances and such.

As for the Clinton prosperty thing? It is true that he increased taxes and reduced military spending and such. Our economy was much stronger then. Germany and Japan have GREAT economies now. Both of them have pretty darn small militaries and higher taxes (on the upper class anyways)
Herbert Hoover on the other hand, didn't give any socilized help to people that needed it. No, he believed in complete "free trade". When the country was in the great depression, he told the people of America to go to their churches, go to their charities, etc, and get money from them. Was this a coinsadence too?

And the fact that after the president following him made reforms, which helped the economy a bit, what that also a coinsadence? If not, what "other factors" played a role? Why is it that after the large military-low rich taxes of the first bush administration, the country was in not so good shape and we had a huge debt, and then the Clinton administration made it smaller and increased rich taxes, and we got a surplus? And right after that, the second bush did those same things and we are back in debt? Is everything I said in this post all one coinsadence? How many historical facts do I have to bring up for my point to be valid? If our next president decreases mindless military spending and increases the upper class taxes, and then we're out of debt and the economy is better again, will that once again all be a coinsadence?

Um... Excuse me?

If your trying to say my comments are somehow racist, you utterly fail. I also know you changed that from "good grief". I'm glad you did, because thats my line!

If my comments are truly so horrible, it should be easy for you to say something about them. I can give you sources, statics, and facts to back up my argument. Is that why you just decided to "let my remark stand for themselves"?

Seriously, whats wrong with what I said? All I said is the fact that the government has a minimal standard for minorities in places, to ensure equality is a good thing, and then your somehow turning that into racism.

No, I'm happy to let YOUR comments stand for themselves.

But then you went and edited the fun parts out.

Like that proves anything. You created all that yourself and then look like I posted it, and civ forums emailed you.

And Japan's economy hasn't been "great" for over 15 years. It hasn't been good either.
