I had never heard of it. It is a greek movie, and greek movies ussually are either utter crap (most of them) or too profound for the masses (films by multi-award winner in euro festivals Theo Angelopoulos are an example of that).

But i just watched its trailer:

Link to video.

Well, a few words about that.
There is very little to be seen in regards to the acting. In fact (i think) only one actor even speaks during the trailer. His accent does not convince me that he is a very good actor (i have never seen him again in anything either), since it mostly seems to be one of someone who does not really believe, or understand, the plot.

The story seems to be about a parent who tries to control his children, by telling them awful lies and later on torturing them. Interesting as a premise, but the trailer fails to show anything that could make me want to see it.

The film is a nominee in the category of "best foreign film" in the Oscars.

I had heard of it and downloaded it a long time ago but haven't watched it yet. I'll watch it this evening and let you know what I think.

I was surprised to see a Greek film in the nominations. Has a Greek film ever won the Foreign Film Oscar here before?

I was surprised enough to see that three Danish movies have won.

I read in wiki that there were a few more Greek nominated films for the Oscars, but they did not win.
However there were a number of Greeks who won oscars, including the director Gavras and the composer Vangelis :)

I just finished watching it. Very bizarre movie. I don't really know what to think of it. Not a bad movie I guess, it's certainly different. It's nice to see some full frontal male nudity. I guess the closest well known movie it comes to as far as a theme is the village but it's really a very different movie from that.

I just watched the preview. There really isn't so much screaming in the actual film. I think the subtitles I had were different too.
