Played this with my buddy who owns a game store. When he opened the box & I took one look at it & figured it would suck (I don't generally like card-only games, with no map, no units, etc.) but it was great. We only played two games & I probably won't get to play more with him for some time (we live about 100 miles apart) but I'm looking forward to getting it again. After just a couple plays I rank it up there with Catan & C&K (Catan expansion) which are my top two overall (besides chess).

It's got very good reviews pretty much everywhere too (boardgamegeek.com & amazon for example).

From the reviews & descriptions it sounds like a lot of fun.

One of my favourite games is Race for the Galaxy, also a card-only game by Rio Grande. I generally like the more complicated ones, like Power Grid (which has an excellent economy system) and ... Factory Manager or something? (which is very similar to Power Grid.) But card-only ones are also a lot of fun as they tend to be faster to resolve and require you to form a coherent game plan "on the fly".

Still haven't played Power Grid, maybe next time I head down to my friend's shop I'll have him teach me.

Factory Manager is a differant game, it is nothing like Power Grid. They just put Power Grid in the name.

It is a very good game.

Well okay, it's not the same as Power Grid :p But I like them both for the same reason ;)

Really funny game indeed, but you play too much on your own, there is nearly zero interaction between the players. In the version I played there was only the Militia card...

I've heard that complaint before but I do find myself adjusting my strategy based on other people.
