Someone has persuaded Voodoo2 cards to power Doom3.

Creative Labs had previously persuaded Voodoo2 cards to pump textures upto 1024x1024 but it appears the above effort does not include that.

The question is: Why would anyone want to play Doom 3 on a Voodoo 2?

It defeats the purpose of the game by killing all of the shaders and lighting effects. Looking at the screenshots, you can see just about everything, thus killing the entire mood fo the game.

Hell, you could buy a video card that would look far better than that for cheaper than the game costs.

Sorry, not trying to troll the message. It's interesting that people are getting older technology to work with today's stuff - I just think it ends up being far more of a hassle than it's worth.

Well, in my experience, some newer things are more hassle than they are worth. NVidia graphics cards being a prime example. So the V2 can just about manage Doom3 with reduced graphics, and the GeForce256 needs software rendering to tackle UT. Boy did consumers pick the wrong brand to back! :p

Still haven't fixed all acceleration problems, and have just discovered that nView displays are not working. TV-out is disabled. Aargh!
