Doto [AdvCiv ModMod]

Dawn of the overlords has been released !


after long and hard work - i present the new title of my overlord 2 mod, from now on - dawn of the overlords.

the mod went through a large reconstruction, its now may be considered as a modmod of a mod:

overlord 2 + rise of mankind + a new dawn.

complicated huh?

i hope you make the most of it, enjoy,

Even more unities, buildings ect?!?

I do not like at all, pointless "I integrate so many units and building as possible"!
Features are gold...

The Mod "Caveman to Cosmus" as well as this Mod are so overloadet...with buildigs and Units u dont realy need, in my opinion. UUs are ok...

Is there generally a "red thread"?!? An idea?!?! Which one?!?

A saying says "Less is more!"
What about balance?!?!

Sorry for my scathing criticism...but thats my opinion.

well don't judge my mod before you try it.

doto mod have much much less things in it then caveman or rise of mankind.

i have 200 techs less 50% less units, and buildings...i think 300 less buildings..

OverLord is 76MB in size. RAND 1.76b2 is over 1.6GB in size and C2C is 2.1GB in size.

And as keldath pointed out this mod is reworked with RoM-AND as a foundation. So if you don't like AND or C2C or RoM, then maybe you should just move on to something more "bare bones".

Well Im enjoying it ....

I think I may have found a bug though. Im getting an error message that reads

error in EndPlayerTurn event handler <bound method BarbarianCiv. on EndPlayerTurn of <BarbarianCiv. BarbarianCiv at 0x35G5D288>>


I dont know if its a bug or my PC but I thought you may want to knoe

thats very odd - if im not mistaken - you get this error right upon game start, that if you play with nobarbciv bot checked.

i got this error in one of the versions i did while updating the mod. ive just played with it on and i didnt got it. i was sure afforess fixed the error in a later build he released that i updated.
i just started a game and i did not receive the error, with how many civs did you start your game?
anyway for now just ignore it, next game you do - simply play without barb civ. iwill make another test or two to make sure.

i think i understand what you wanna say.
as the guys above wrote, you dont have to play what you dont like, theres a lot of other mods
to choose here that have less things in them.

Since I'm a fan of your original Overlord mod (and I still play it), I will give this a run as well.

Thanks for this I will try it. I should have added :blush: the error started arround turn 300 and ended up with a CTD wall at turn 304

Ona slightly different topic .....what may be handy is a view on reccomended settings for the mod and specificaly what maps people have found work. I have a great fondness for the tectonics map generator in a wide range of mods but Im never sure it works. For the above instance I used the basic continents.

Mind you Ive noticed very few Mods if any make these reccomendations possibly as its a "where the devil do you start" can of worms and it ends up in fruitless debates .

That said Ive been playing Civ since the original (yes Im very old) and am constantly impressed by the modding community so I'm most certainly not moaning my cap is well and truly doffed (apologies to non english speakers and Im not sure it even makes sense in American English but its sort of a salute)

Ill stop rambling now.

ps I had a large map but dont know the number of Civs as I use Play now but I will change my lazy habits
 
I'm having a game crash on me in an odd way, the window just closes. Usually a crash is kind of obvious when it is about to happen, but in this case the window just closes.

Odd story in this game, the Egyptians pop up near me in about 1500 or 2000 bce, and over the next couple hundred years found Amun-ra, sail around the world, found Islam and have longbowmen. I assumed they needed to be destroyed quickly, lest they launch their space ship... :lol:

I realize that some odd choices needed to be made with the limited religions aspect of the mod, but I was bummed when I couldn't found Christianity as the Ethiopians. Wouldn't it be cool to develop something like the revmod for religions?

I had the same crash as Red Boxer while just moving along in the game. I was quickly moving up to the Renaissance Age when the game just closed down. I was playing a custom game with one continental landmass (in effect a pangea) with Raging Barbarians.

I like the new way Great Generals work. Not sure if that was you or from the other mod creators. I like having a field commander to help my troops fight better.

Will hopefully have some feedback as I get deeper into the game. Will start a new one since my last game is "lost"; ie..I didnt save very often and was many turns in from my last save when it closed. I should know better by now.

well, i got a crash alright...

i narrowed it to some recent xml change ive made, im now going trail and error till i will
discover the xml part that causing the crash.

good thing im making backups as i go...
i hope ill get it soon and upload a patch.

p.s. its unbelievable every time i get a new version, i get some crash and need a patch to fix it...............man im pissed.

after a few hours, ive found the file thats causing the crash, something in the worker actions.
i will release a fix very soon.

Found something else that I cant explain. On the save game am I uploading, I have workers on a coffee resource. However, it is not allowing me to build a grove to harvest it. I have the right tech to be able to build it (Monarchy), but it is not available for my workers. Am I missing some other prerequesite or could this be a minor bug?
