Doto [AdvCiv ModMod]

This mod represents the best Civ I have ever played. Be sure to enable "blocking" in the game options. I haven't played vanilla BTS in years but this seems to be pretty close to that.

Is there a TSL Earth map? How is the game difficulty and balance?

I've detected what may be a bug.
During the game it only allows the contruction of religious buildings from the state religion, no matter what religion's civic do you have.
For example, when you have 'Pluralism' as religion's civic, there is no state religion. Consequently, it doesn't allow to construct any religious building from any religion. This happens with any civic. I tested also with all civics in basic levels and still happens. The construction of religious buildings is only allowed for those from the state religion.
This makes quite difficult to expand different religions and increase the culture

Indeed, as intended :)
My thought was, to limit the religion spam of buildings.
So only if you state religion matches, the building will work.
But some time after, i added the inactive building game option, so maybe i can change it back...
What do you think.
 
I haven't played vanilla BTS is years but I thought buildings that only matched the state religion worked.

Which is what I am in favour. Legacy buildings should still provide culture.
 
so,
7 civics, or 8 civics?

i did a massive rebuild of all the civics, gave much attention to balance.
the ideals civic is controling 1 great person bonus. it will be given by a designated building in the printing press tech - national wonder that will open all ideals.
all ideas dont have upkeep to them.

i also did an 8 civic screen - similar to this, came out good.
the idea is to do a Terra civic m that will only focus on the bonus given from improvements.
right now , other civics give out various bonuses to improvement.
im pondering :)

well i couldn't help it,
im going with 8 civics,

Terra: each civic improves 2 improvements.
Ideals: each civic improves 1 great person

removed almost all improvement bonuses from other civics to adjust (except farm and workshop,these still have perks in regular civics)
removed all great person bonuses from other civics.

the result is more choices on smaller scale civics effects.
lots of micro manage with less abuse of info on the eyes.
i really put lots of thought on giving a good dilemma choice when picking between civics

Haha. Ambition - I love it! I like the idea of more choices on smaller scale civic effects. This should make for some fun micro- managing.

Also, I'm really happy to see you're back keldath :king:

Standard and small, with set start locations and such.

ok so,
since i like to create stuff.
i decided to develop yet another system for ranged untis.
so,
i came up with my new title - Ranged Immunity.
desc:
ranged marked units will have special attack feature:

- attack is done as as any unit - move into an enemy tile
- immunity when attacking none ranged units : ranged unit can only get damage if being attacked
- random damage or hit : by game option
- first strikes take no effect to ranged units or vs ranged units
- units cannot withdraw from a ranged attack.
- on victory , ranged attack will not move to the units tile (it wont anyway since all ranged units have a combat limit).

perks:
- more friendly AI code to handle these attack then my previous ranged attack
- no above range 1 area of attack (i have another method to do it but not at this point)

and the best thing,
it will co exists in the game,
with my other Ranged attack, that i also improved quite allot with the ai usage.
so you will be able to choose what range type game you want:
normal
ranged immunity
ranged attack

existing options from prev version:
you could also define if you want range attacks to have a random factor for hits , damage or both (will also affect city bombardment and air strikes - i havnt separated each type to its own option).
if you want to spice up things more, you could define that range attacks do not end movements.

im still testing and working on the code,
but its looking great :)
 
hey civ4 fans,

i had some technical set back.
but im pretty happy with the ranged system i hooked up.
although i havent finished.

but , for now,
ill just indulge you with the version i played in an MP game with my friend not long ago.
it includes all the changes i did in the xml, advc latest changes , tweaks and such. also includes my new civics.
what it does not include is any of the ranged attack code (not even the one from 106).
also does not include limited religions (which i suspect didnt work). in addition the barbarian civ mod is removed also (added for 107).

with all that you can still have fun in a good stable Doto version with latest changes:
