Hey keldath, i already downloaded the new version, i will just finish this game in Civ5 and will go right at it to test it!( and also back to other stuff)

Damn Civ5, consuming my life, not as good, but addictive as Civ4 :p. 3 Days straight into a 500 turn game, and going to day 4. Probably not the faster computer also.

Anyway, kudos on the small sized download, is it possible to add blue marble terrain manually? I just hate the flashy original civ4 terrain. Other art doesn't make much difference, but come on, the whole screen is terrain :p.

See ya, pray for me not to go crazy with this damn civ5.

humm.. civ5...how was it? i guess you had fun, but i dunno, i cant play with it until some decent fixes for the ai will be made.

blue marble, yeah you can get it from their thread and install it, maybe for next release ill include it.

dont go crazy with civ5, tell your self its boring :)

I been reading these forums every now and then for ages but this thread made me decide to finally make an account to say: This mod sounds really cool, can't wait to give you some feedback!
 
keldath... i had enough of CivV heueheu.
I won the game in 2047 in a Diplomatic victory, and then 2052 again by domination Victory (WTH).
Four days straight, i couldn't shutdown my computer yesterday because the game wouldn't save.
A horde of graphical glitches, and a few mechanical bugs.
Unbalanced game, i liked the tactical combat style a lot( thumbs up for 1 upt), impossible to reach cultural victory: i had like a thousand per turn, almost every city up to broadcast tower, and the bonus for acquiring the civic (forgot what they called it?), and still there was half the way to complete it.

Anyway, my review is not to be taken into account, most of those( if not all) were only on my end, i was playing on minimum specs, on a windows emulator in a Linux machine :p.
ps: Civ4 runs smoothly, never crashed, on maximum specs, in the same machine.
I think they rushed the game to be released earlier, compared to civ4 vanilla is a good way through( 8 years by the way), but i don't think they learned anything with the modders in this forum... And like everyone said, the AI is stupid, without units your empire is doomed, with them its also doomed :p
Diplomacy is no fun, i liked the city-states thingy but at the end still not planned enough( all you need is gold).
If you enter a war, you will move all your troops across one end of the world, leaving the other end and your cities completely vulnerable, but the AI won't use the opportunity( it is stupid).
In my game the AI( Cesar) Build 100 Infantry hoping to attack me, leaved them all at my door ready for attack, got crippled with the maintenance, 50 turns later, i walk in with my modern armor crushing all that's left of him... again stupid.

Ah Enough, i didn't plan to say this much, glad i got it out of my system... Yeah a few years yet( i hope) till i can play Civ5.
 
Mmm just tried both 2.3.8 & a new dawn but both crashed my civ4 client somewhere between starting up the client & starting up the game. No error messages just freezing the entire game. Downloaded another mod now to see if it's because of my computer/civ version, I'll let you know what I find out

Edit: Keeping EVERYTHING exactly the same with HISTORY IN THE MAKING doesn't give any problems at all ;o
Any clue what it might be?
 
-I have a bug to report for A New Dawn. I'm playing as Elizabeth, and the error occurred shortly before turn 428. I just noticed that I now have 250005104 gold.

-I've been raking in money faster than I am accustomed to for Overlord 2 (I tend to found religions). Anyway, I certainly didn't make that money naturally. I don't recall exactly when it occurred, so I'm not sure I can provide important details. I'm at war with Arabia, and she took a city of mine and ferried (or magically made appear) troops in to keep it occupied while I whittled away at it. I recently took it and began attacking his ships (which I now find I instantly capture every time).

-(edit) I've just captured the Arabian capital, and I received a huge amount of money roughly equivalent to the money I received earlier.
 
I'm using Windows XP SP3 and got BtS installed till the final version, besides that my system is all correctly installed, drivers up-to-date and no junk on my computer.

The civ client always stops working 100% around 20% of loading the first game. Sometimes it stops earlier if I alt+tab to another window (I don't play fullscreen usually) I got the graphics on low while my computer can easily handle them. I also tried it on full screen but that way not only the game froze but my entire computer as well.

that is so weird,

is the mod installed under beyond the sword\mods\overlord2.3.8 (or overlord2- a new dawn)?

i use the same setting as you, also using windowed mode.

try to do this - delete all the content from the folder - user settings - inside the mod folder - its on both versions.
 
Oh wow thanks, now I deleted the content it worked! Any clue what was wrong? Any specific kind of game you'd like feedback for? Playing a new dawn now :)

Edit: And same error again (freezes at the same point of loading) on second start up :/ Hehe I don't know why but seems ur mod doesn't like my computer!
 
-The save is attached. The massive income occurs when I take the city on the continent back from the Arabs (who took it from me). If the Arabs had that money, it may explain how they've been able to supply a new unit there every single turn.

Hey Keldath, I love you mod, and the newdawn version is the best yet. However, I am having the same problem as Nosferum, I took the egyptian capital around 50 turns into a new game and recieved over 2000 gold. I thought this was weird but i decided to keep playing and when i took a barb city another 50 turns later I recieved 100000 gold O.o

Im thinking the game is assigning the AIs insane gold values? Wonder why, and hope you can fix so i can play.

The first save attachment is after gaining the gold. The second is my farthest back auto save, so maybe you can see what happens.

so, your having that too, man, this is one nasty bug,
i have no idea why does this happens, but i sure will try to figur this out.

the savegames will help me thanks for that.

ill try to supply some fix as soon as i can.


edit:

i cant seem to reproduce the massive money gaining.
i saw in the save that it happened, saw the event log, but i tried to make it happen again, but i just cant.
i really dont understand this, i think i gotta have a save game just before this event.

Thanks for responding so fast :). And yup my first post, after using mods on this forum for 3+ years :P.


Ok, so I replayed that first game back to the point I was about to kill the barb city. That save file "newdawngold" is the turn before I took it. I also started a new game to see if it would happen again, and in the new game, the first city i took gave me 20000 gold :(, and another gave me 370000 gold. The save file "warlikegold" is the turn before i took the barb city that gave me 370000. I know you are working on it hard, so if theres anything you want me to test/more saves let me know :) .

i might have found a solution by some help from afforess and strategyonly,

plz do this:

go to the path: assets\python
delete the file - RoMGameUtils.py

then go to this path:
assets\config ,
and in this file: RoMSettings.xml.

go to line 18 : <gameutils module="RoMGameUtils" class="RoMGameUtils" override="True"/>
and delete it.

that should do it, if not i have somthing else that might help , but im pretty confident.

i hope you can help me test this fix, if youll report that it worked, ill be able to upload an updated version (one that includes a patch of a new dawn).

this fix might be savegame compatible! so i suggest try it on the saves you uploaded, as will i.
 
Alright, did everything in the fix you posted and replayed the glitched turns of both my save files, and everything worked perfectly both times :).

Hey Keldath (or anyone who can help),

Awesome mod by the way!

Tiny weird bug: I can no longer build galleons! On the city screen they aren't even greyed out, there is just no option at all! I deleted some galleons etc. but it didnt help. Bit befuddled, I am 420 turns or so through the game.
