ok, i have some problems updating overlord2+and version to revdcm 2.81, so for start ill release ol2 2.4 without AND.
im adding to 2.4 many mod parts so it will come close to ols+2and.
later on ill update and as-well.

or you rather i put the effort on and?

im uploading the latest ol2 version - 2.4.

i have changed many things, i can even remember what, see the history file on the mod it self.

ive updated the civics to that of the new civics mod by topsecret, so they should be balanced pretty well.
although i left my edited civics (which i worked on since the last released) if anyone wishes to try them out - its on an exe file inside the mods folder - just unzip and overwrite the files.

the link will be up in an hour or less.

i truly hope someone will have fun, not sure how many are still playing this, one thing i know - i got krushyn :)

Played last night. I've seen the new religion system. I played with the "regular" civics (the one you get if you just run the exe). Are they supposed to be balanced for Revolution? or should I play without that? (I ask this because in many cases, the default civic is better than the following ones in terms of stability, so I keep it for very long)
what are your "edited civics"? what do you mean by that?
Last question (sorry, but it's holiday season, so it's now or never :D ), what do you receommend as speed and map types? (ie what did you use while testing for balancing)

the religion system is by your request :)

civics:
the civics currently in use are almost the same as the new mod by top secret - civic mod 1.0
i also included the civics from ol2 2.3.8 -with some modifications that i dont remember exactly -the file for it is inside the mods folder - extract and overwrite (cant go back though).

but - in both system health and education civics are the same.

so basically there's two civic system options to choose from.


both versions are not balanced for revolutions - i never play with rev on, and im not sure what are the influences of the civics.

my "optimal" game settings:
archipelago map with sneaky continents
medium ocean (sometimes low)
speed 1500 (overlord)
prince level (sometimes prince war)
8-10 nations - since i play barbarian civs - more are emerging during the game,
the rest are variuos:
no tech diffusion.
no advanced diplomacy.
no rev.
random seed.
and a few more.

i can certainly say 1500 speed is the most balanced as far as i know - only played half a game with it several times.

hey. I am interest in your mod but have a couple of questions.

I used automatic ai and the ai seemed to perform decently with your mod so thats a huge plus but you also have some important things to me like:

1. religions with different bonuses.. not into that political correct crap ^^
2. ruthless AI. I tried this with another mod and was impressed.
3. added content without going overboard to the point of the AI not being able to cope and the game being tremendously slow
4. great map graphics.. i havnt seen this graphic set yet.. its very clear

The only thing I REALLY liked in the RoM AND mod that you dont have are:

1. Fixed Borders (With an ai that supposedly understands it)
2. Realistic culture spread


So my questions are:

Is there any way to get those two things working with your mod? (or do you have it planned?)

And also if i DO choose another mod where do i get those map graphics? :P

edit: lol btw for all i know the graphics are the standard game graphics. havnt played that for years. but if thats the case then there are other graphics mods besides Blue marble being used

so, the graphics, well , yeah i guess you were a bit off civ4 mod for a while :)

im glad you like all those stuff.

as for rom:
actually - the older version was infact two - one with rom and basis and one similar to the current 2/4.
so if you go to my history of versions part in the front post youll see a link to dl ol2 rom and version - that one include everything from rom and game options.

for now i decided to work on an update just for my regular version, but i plan to update the rom version as well when i get the time.

if your rwally like the rom stuff go ahead and play my latest rom ana + ol2, its stable and good, its without all my latest improvements, but its still worth a play.

yeah ive tried alot of mods actually. ive just been a very long time lurker :P
what are the differences between A new dawn and your mod + a new dawn. For one i guess you kept the assets low.. But does the AI perform ok with your version?
That was the main reason I didnt like A new dawn.. it couldn't handle things like Lead resources etc.
Also many balance issues

So basically if you kept the "good stuff" from new dawn and got rid of what you consider detrimental stuff then this would prob be my dream mod :P
I'm currently running AI tests just to see how it does.. And one thing is for sure: ITS MUCH FASTER then a new dawn ^^

This isnt to criticize a new dawn btw. I love alot of the features. Im just very picky ^^ You seem to have done a good job :)

edit: hmm I did an ai test and it seems the AI is incapable of anything naval. All AI's just ignored the new world completely :(
Dont know if thats this mod, AND or just civ though ^^

editedit: I did a lot of tests like this with different mods and it seems that the ai is capable of colonizing other continents but extremely bad at exploring the oceans.. so it never does colonize. sad.

Ill play on a more pangea type map though. Either way so far this mod seems the way to go for me :P


editediteditAGAIN: meh.. no go.. CTD. Looked at log and seems to be when spain switches to org religion

Iedit2much: strange.. Doesnt crash when i let the Autoplay AI end the turn o.0
btw i keep getting debug messages. something about revolutions at end of turn
 
I am a beginner and not as ago to play this mod. overlord2.4 decompressed folder in: C: \ Program Files \ Firaxis Games \ Sid Meier's Civilization 4 \ Beyond the Sword \ Mods, but then not to make it work. I would love to play the mod, very good stop me this mod and I think is the best I've seen so far.
 
This mod has my recommendation. It has many of the details found in the much larger mods, but manages to make the turns much faster. Great job.

dakasha i hope you got to play and got no errors.

i have updated the mod with 2 things:
revdcm 2.90
fixed all foot units to be able to walk on mountains.

if you guys wont post any sirious bugs/tweaks needed to be done, ill upload the latest in a few days.

i started to update my third mod - song of the moon, i felt like modding a bit, so ill work on sotm for now - hope you try it also when its up with the new version.
 
Something strange is going on with my gold. For some reason it seems to just keep disappearing, not all of it, mind you... just most of it. I can't figure it out.
 
Could have been, but it was early on and stopped, so I could have been imagining it. I don't feel the need to monkey around with the mod at all.

I had plenty of money to do what I wanted but it was just weird watching it randomly vanish. I really only noticed it twice: the first was after the 'exploration' phase where I normally wind up with a bunch of gold from the goody huts, I had about 4 or 5 hundred and then at some point I had only 100 or so. Then after a while floating around there I suddenly dropped to 6.

It was very perplexing, not annoying or anything... just strange. :)
 
what you describe is extremely strange, i have played several hundred turns with the current version, i didnt had this problem. maybe if you see it again you can load up here a save for before and after money drop.

i hope you can continue paying, or the next one youll play will be fine.
 
Oh, it hasn't negatively impacted me wanting to play the game. I'm currently playing a lovely little set as the Israelis and we managed to found Judaism (how apropos). If I get to a point where I can't play this game anymore, I'll start up another and see if it happens again.
