drinking

Sloe Gin, drank neat is a great winter warmer.
Pimms and lemonade is my posh summer drink. Whisky and coke is my less posh one.
I enjoy the occasional Malt, a Lagavulin (the king of the Islay malts) or a Dufftown Glenlivet. (Some of the limited editions of Wild Turkey bourbon are worth a try and I would defy the most snobbish of malt drinkers not to be impressed.)

On the ale front I can heartily recommend Theakston's Old Perculiar. Full bodied and dark.

anyone know what's rakija?
i dont get drunk from wine anymore,i dont know,i get all ********.baileys is nice, but it's to sweet for really drinking.

My drink of choice is a Royal Dew - constructed by pouring Mountain Dew in a glass simultaneously with a dollop of Royal Crown.

Failing that, beers that I can see light through, with Steinlager my favorite.

Surpirsed that nobody tossed out Jameson's. My pap got me drinking that stuff when I graduated, best gift ever.

Try an "Irish Car Bomb" Half a pint of guiness with a shot of Irish Mist mixed in. Drop in a shot of Jameson's and chug. Tastes like Dr. Pepper, hits you like an anvil. (God I miss being in school).

Czech lager
Red wine (Italian for preference, though my French friends think I'm weird.)
Vodka Russian
(That's vodka with Russian Water, not the way some Russians drink it, where they bring out the 1l. bottle with a cap that can't be resealed, and then you down the lot.)

The most horrific stories of intoxication I've heard regards ether. It can be drunk once you've stopped getting drunk from alcohol. A friend of mine was attending a Scandinavian student meeting and met some happy Finns, who put a non-descript bottle in his hand. It loked innocent enough. He tog a swig and started coughing his lungs out. They were drinking ether, which incidentaly rots your liver at warp speed compared to ordinary alcohol.
The Dracula actor Bela Lugosi towards the end of his career, when working with Ed Wood ("Plan Nine From Outer Space"), was drinking ether. The day's shoot would start with a visit to the drugstore to buy the stuff for Bela. Small wonder he died. (And was replaced in the movie with Ed's wife's dentist, who was two feet taller than Bela.)

I frown on intoxicants - Drinking is not for me.

:)
Me too. I'm sure you can guess the reasons why.

I wonder how many people are teetotalers on this site. So far two. Hopefully all those who are not legally able to drink are not drinking.

I once took an online test that said I am an alcoholic. Intresting.

Anyways, I prefer beer and whisky. Also in my bar I have different sorts of vodka, rum and cognac. My wine shelf is also rather full with various intresting wines.

Resisting the lure of media-enforced drugs (drink, tobacco, caffeine) that are thrust at us, this is an important step.

:)

Over the past year ive been flavouring my own vodkas so id have to say my favourite spirit is vodka (garlic, pepper, cucumber are all surprisingly nice!).

My first batch of home made cider should be ready quite soon as well :).

Although I really don't actually drink that much (anymore) im a beer man Tiger/Ashai/Diebels and Staropramen are my favourites.

I flavoured my own home-made booze (hembränt :p). Birch and juniper. :) Very nice indeed. I'll be doing a lot more of that!

My favorite drink is wine, mmmmm wine necter of the Gods.

My favorite Wines are Chardonay, Shiraz and Pinot Noir

Anyways I slept off the alcohol last night after my last post, I slept for thirteen hours. No hangover either, I just feel a little wierd. Trust me, I do not plan on getting smashed all the time. It's fun stumbling around in a haze, but the feeling of not being in control and helplessness gets old.

Yager is my favorite, that stuff tastes like liquid candy. Goes down really smooth too. One of my friends likes to drink "Yagerbombs". It's a shot of Yager mixed with the energy drink, Red Bull. Then you down the whole thing. So you get the effects of alcohol and hyperness. I don't think I'll ever try that.
