Why is the AI so stupid in military situations? I don't have to worry about anyone invading me, it doesn't matter who i'm at war with, I can be at war with every overseas computer and I'll come out virtually unscaved. Why? because the AI is to stupid to launch an effective overseas invasion against me. They'll occasionally bombard my cities with a few air/sea units but they can't invade me.
They usually just send ships and transports in tiny stacks which is 2-4 AEGIS cruisers and 1-2 Transports, which, are then landed in the worst possible spots and easily destroyed, that or destroyed at sea by my airforce. This is odd because these computer players have much more military strength than me. For example the Aztec computer im currently at war with has about a 2x bigger navy, 2x bigger airforce and 5x bigger ground force and has not sent even a remotely challenging force on my homeland and he's completely devoid of common sense and effective tactics.
The biggest landing force he sent at me consisted of about 15 Modern armor all of which were stacked and easily destroyed by my army. Every 2 turns or so he'll land a whopping 4-8 stacked mech infantry to be owned.
I wouldn't complain so much if the computer had even the least bit of strategic thinking when it comes to invading me. I've been at war with him for about 20 agonizingly boring turns.
Am I doing something wrong here? the difficulty is set at "Emperor" if i set it higher will the computer actually have some challenging military tactics to throw at me and not simply land weak stacked forces in the strongest parts of my country? Also I know that putting it at "Sid" will make his units stronger what I want is some challenging AI tactics to be faced with. Any help is appreciated.
