I think Spotter Control (+50 % foreign trade) is pretty useless

Are they + foreign trade, or +trade? I thought they were the latter.

I did start building some but don't object to cancel, I didn't actually get around to checking how valuable they are.

There are enemy units on the water generating tiles; you can't work them, and wind pass lost a windtrap to Ixian culture.

Edit: Played abit , things are quite tight - Ordos is about breaching our defence at south - he have quite large stacks of Sardukars and Kinjals. I am tired today, going to play tommorow, sorry for delay, but each turn take alot of time really.
 
Are the Ixians bribable to help us?

No worries, there's no rush, take a day or two if needed.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the Ordos take that city, but lets see if we can save Carthag.

I don't think that bribing the Ixians is likely to help, even if they declared war it woudln't stop the super-stack. Also, I dont' think they like us much.

The Ordos are easy to bribe, other factions not so much.

Just make peace with the Ordos asap. I think they're easier to bribe out of wars too (don't fight to the death so much).

Ok, sounds good. Do people think we should make the XML change? I'm only going to do it the group thinks we should.
 
Ok, lets make the change then. Do we have a general consensus on the next strategy?

Try to hold the Ordos off, and send thopters down to pillage their coastal tiles, and make peace with them asap. Take as much of the Ecaz territory as we can, then get peace with them. Reinforce the new holdings with defenders, particualrly our high strength tier3 melee units, then go take out Ix.

Tech path is probably -> industrialism (for factories), guild banking (for more cash) and then -> air combat (for desert airfield, carrier, and better thopters and interceptors).
 
You know what, I really don't feel comfortable with this war, especially with what I'm seeing in Nalour Rock. Oh great Ahriman, can you take over for me? (I think you can dial down science and buy lots of troops there, but even then I don't think it's salvageable).

We capture Midri Rock. Fix is not working :( still cant bomb defences. Tell what i am doing wrong
We contact Ecaz - and he agree to capitulate giving us 1 turn of tech, money, map, gpt, and his not capital city. There is no defence so i buy carrier to defend it for 1 turn.
I bought Suspensor Cruiser and moving good units from north to Carthag, to try to defend it.
south land under heavy assault of Ordos, i evacuated few hornets which will be on our carrier soon.
I contacted Malky - and at least he agreed to sign Open Borders. I will gather forces soon and will assault Harkonnen from north, using Ix cities.

Next Techs are Spacing Guild (for very nice wonders) and Spaceports as next - with lifting, which will allow us to lift any uniuts and send to disntant landmass in one turn!!!!

I confirm the fix doesn't work in the current game, but it seems like it works in a newly created game.
I wonder if the building somehow sets the bombardment defense when constructed, and doesn't keep checking back to the building xml?

So it will still probably work vs newly constructed force shields, but not vs the old ones.

The only way to fix is probably to remove all existing force shields in worldbuilder, play a turn, then add the shields back the turn after.

Ok i played till 347
Carthag will be saved, our reinforcements near.
Also I found way to annoy Harks and Ordos - only threat for it are intercepting hornets.
I launch air strikes from carrier and nearby cities, and then attack from desert wit hthopters, and come back to desert. Such i kill single patrolling units.

There is nice army arriving soon together with Suspensor Cruiser (str 16) from Caladan.
Atm we lack military so all cities build mainly army.
also i employed couple Feydaikin - and they will be patrolling desert.
I will continue tomorrow, because now i am really tired, but advanced to turn 347 , simply each turn take alot of time!
 
Just for kicks, has anybody used the trick of gifting a city that's about to fall to a 3rd party (in this case it would be either the Ix or the BG) and evacuating all troops to cities that can be defended, and then coming back after you make peace to capture those empty/poorly defended cities?
 
nah i dont like all those exploit thingies , there no reason t present more cities to freemen, i hope we will lose more on most south weak city and then we will take all back

i hope i'll finish playing soon
 
Can I recommend again that we head for Industrialismm, for factories?

There is no point in stocking up on techs that give Wonders and buildings and expensive units if we don't have the hammer output to make them.
 
No we'll head where we heading now because current path will give us Space Ports, which allow us instant transportation via lift, which is very important in our current situation and layout, and Industrialism benefits are nothing compared to fast as possible switch to air transportation instead of moving suspensor transport caravans thru desert from homeland.
