Played only 9 turns now, my comp is quite slow with this amount of units :sad:
To remove unhappy used the culture slider and built some Theater Halls.

Captured a city :D and lost another :blush: due to a misclick :mad: sorry.

Not that it really matters at this point, since victory is in the bag thanks to our might armies, but the economic costs of shifting commerce to culture are much larger than the economic benefits of reducing a little unhappy. It is almost never worth diverting commerce to culture except in extreme cases of war weariness or when pursuing a cultural victory.

And I'm not sure why you're giving away large cities; giving territory even to vassals just makes it harder for us to win (vassal terrain counts for half), and even if a city is unhappy, its happy citizens are still productive, it doesn't make the city less valuable.

I believe domination like victories (eg. holly war) can be achieved a few turns earlier if you push the culture slider up. The final turns are determined by our superior production, not the research. No way we can lose even if we shut down research completely. But we can get earlier border pops for the newly conquered cities which means faster finish (if it matters anyway).

It's ok, sometimes I feel I should have used more words to explain what I think/do. Like now. ;) No, haven't lost a city in combat, it was just a pop up window asking a city back and I accidentally hit yes.
 
I actually agree with the culture slider thing. When you capitulate a vassal and have cities right next to him, if you don't turn up the culture slider and expand your big cross, revolts often happen and make your land area shrink temporarily, sometimes to the point that you're off a few turns for domination. 5-10% culture slider isn't a big deal, often I "bomb" the slider to 100% just as a city comes out of rebellion to prevent it from going into rebellion again right afterwards.

And it's always fun to convert cities by culture.
 
2nd part is 7 turns, but after capturing 2 more cities I happily hand over the save to the next player.

Strange thing here with the defensive bonus of these cities in the same turn! :confused:

I sacrificed several assault cannons hoping they do collateral damage, but somehow they didn't or just to 1 unit. Is it a side effect of Force field? Anyway his capital falls for us.

I noticed interceptors can completely kill units with air strike while bombers can't. Is it intended? These actions are missing from the log. I have built some carriers so we are not limited to air capacity of cities. Aerial Tactics only gave us improved Thopters, we are heading towards Plasteel now.

I was surprised at the complete damage that interceptors can do. Can't park Fedaykins on the sand next to a city because they get killed by interceptors.
It looks like the Assault cannon isn't a regular cannon (because it can kill), so maybe that's why there's only 1 collateral damage.
 
Excellent - so this means I'm up again? I may not get a chance to play until Friday (have to do Thanksgiving stuff with the gf's family tonight and tmrw).
How close are we to final victory?

Culture slider doesn't really help getting the victory; mostly all it does is expand cultural control over desert tiles, and in our old cities its a long time before any of them would culturall expand anyway. If you want to rapidly expand borders of a new city, have it Build Culture, rather than changnig the culture slider everywhere.
 
For all those lurkers in the thread who've been watching; please post and let us know your thoughts. Did this make you want to try out the mod? What would you like to see in a new game?

I don't really play mods but I like reading about SGs and showcase games that use them just for entertainment. For me abnormal victory conditions and roleplay restrictions are always fun to see.

Well, if part of your purpose in these SGs is to showcase the mod, you should take (even) more time to spell out the obvious (to you, for most of the readers - not) stuff. For example there was some talk about the groundwater resource being "useless" and only about 10 pages later I found out that it's just some kind of remnant from functionality of a previous version(?). At times such as in the beginning when there's not that much going on the report writer could write some stuff in a way that people that have never seen the mod could figure out what is done and why, for example when you meet new Civs you could take a sentence to describe what are their strengths and weaknesses in the mod.

If you're super-bored or just conscientious you could also keep updating post 1 with links to the posts that have actual progress report instead of the discussion, though that's not so much a problem here than in games which have several pages of discussion between turnsets :)

The city falls easily.

I send some workers out build forts to expand our terrain further, to get the last few percentage points of coverage that we need before the game recognizes our total victory.

We capture Kulimriya from Corrino. On bended knee, "Emperor" Shaddam recognizes our authority.

We also attain the cooperation of the Sardaukar.

With some forts, and the land we have taken from Corrino, we should have enough for victory once we expand out some culture.

Please come to participate , anyone to our 2nd Dune game.
That 2nd one will be much harder and will percive quite hard goals, with very unique and flavourfull civ of Fremen.

I believe it doesn't matter, it just give you a hall of fame entry and you can see the replay again if you want.
It is in the default personal folder usually C:\Users\username\(My) Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\Replays
