Dungeons & Dragons: Mystara

@tattoo18: Brewing is available to everyone, but I made a lot of the luxury resources a bit rare. There are more than the standard game though.

@Nanocyborgasm: Glad you like it. I hoped to make it harder than regular civ. When I was developing it, I heard a lot of complaining from others about how stupid the AI is and how it won't use a lot of things, so I figured out it will use them, but won't build them. So I came up with this SW idea, then I realized that human players always overbuild the strongest units, so I figured out this would level the playing field a bit. ;)

@woodelf: Yup an expansion patch planned for later this summer, will have some new graphix and some added units.

I see you got the mod up. Good job :) Sorry I mysteriously dropped out. Someone died in my family and I didn't want to talk about it. But now I'm back :)

The expansion pack will be a great bridge until Civ4 gets here. Actually I purchased Supreme Ruler 2010 the morning that your MOD got posted and I still haven't even loaded it up once!

It's amazing how the different civs play. I've tried about half of them through the 2nd age and don't have a favorite or a least favorite! Superb balance. :goodjob:

@Blackbird SR-71: No prob. I understand. Hope you enjoy playing the mod. ;)

@woodelf: You're giving me a big head. Actually no, but thanks for the compliments. :)

P.S.- The 160x160 is now available at Evo-Games. It doesn't have cities, just starting points. The one with cities, I'm reworking the time/turns.

@Tjedge1

Are you allowed to actually include a link to that site in your sig file so we can find the download?

Yes I am allowed. I'll do that this morning. Just ddin't feel it was really necessary.

Yes, it took me a while to get used to the dynamics, and I'm still working things out. I noticed that not all the factions have access to a lot of standard things, like mining. Also, I discovered that the most interesting game setup for me was a 200x200 map with all the factions. Apparently, huge isn't huge enough! :)

Right now I'm playing as Zuyevo, as tribute to my Russian heritage. I must ask you: What's up with the Werepandas?

Well, Kinboat made those a while back and I thought they were so cool they had to go in. Since Zuyevo is a civ based on Russian culutre it also has some Asian inclusions, if you notice. Most of the units are more Asian dressed really. Since there is no so such thing as a Werepanda in Mystara, I added these units to one of the more obscure powers of Mystara. Zuyevo isn't well known by most Mystara fans and since it's a mysterious nation, I figured, why not have them infested with vegetarian Lycanthropes calling themselves Werepandas! When you get to the 3rd age, most of the ground units are Werepandas. In the 4th age they upgrade to a rocket launching Werepanda. Very cool. And they are tough to beat in the late ages. ;)

Long time lurker first time poster, as a matter of fact I registered soley for the purpose of telling you just how impressed I am with this mod. It's simply amazing I doubt I will ever play warhammer mod now that I have had a taste of yours. Amazing job tjedge I can't congratulate you enough!

Some can't farm, some can't mine, some can do both, some can do neither. :D

It's a great mix once you get beyond the "I can't $%#@ing believe I can't mine" part. I'm a convert since you'll notice 3-4 weeks back I was saying the same things. I love the variety and different strategies you need depending on who you are.

There is one thing I would change about the mod if I could though and that is when I quit for the night instead of it saying I'm quitting cause I'm scared I rather it would say quitting because I can't keep my eyes open anymore because that is much closer to the truth :)

I believe it's an issue of the fact that Thyatis may not have been given the mineral lore tech to start with. That's a prerequisite for mining, and I don't seem to see any mushrooms lying around the map either.

Then I guess I've answered my question...although not being able to mine is quite a let-down...

Still a great mod. Hope you'll have some preset maps out soon.

I'd like to see more mushrooms lying about myself, but I don't know how to tweak them in the editor since it's a bonus resource.

I think I may have noticed a bug. The Blacksmith's civilopedia entry says it can only be built in cities that have iron in their city radius, but it appears it can be built anywhere as long as you have access to iron anywhere... or was that the idea?

Otherwise, my Zuyevo game is going great. After the Atruaghin declared war on me and managed to reach the gates of my capitol, I turned the tables and managed to reconquer all the cities they took from me, plus half of their own, including THEIR capitol! Once again, great job making this mod.

I also just realized that this mod has been around since June 25th, yet I'm only noticing it now. I must've been on vacation when you uploaded it.

did i say i love this mod? I love that the Thyatis empire is kinda like the Roman Empire i just wish the cities would have more a ancient roman look. But i still love this mod.

Thanks for all the compliments guys, I didn't think this mod would really hit it off since it is so very different than other civ mods.

 That is good. Maybe I should change it to that instead. ;)

Yes this is the issue. As woodelf stated, some can mine, some can farm, some can do both and one can do neither. It is balanced around this anyway so it seems to be a pain, but it isn't a crutch to not mine. Mushrooms are the extra boost for civs that can mine, because they mostly can't farm then and this way they will stay closer to mountains and hills, while other civs will ignore the mushrooms and move out to the flatlands and forest for food. ;)

There are actually 2 at the moment. They are in the Extras section on the download page.

No way to do it since it's a bonus. There are plenty in the preset maps. In the random game, bonus resources are scarce alltogether because of the number of resources total. In the preset maps there are more resources added to the game and no issue of scarceness. Well not too much, don't want it to get too easy now.

I would have loved to give each civ it's own city graphic, but the game only allows 5 cultures. The only way to increase that would ruin the tech trees. Maybe in Civ 4. I believe this will be possible, at least in theory so far.

Tjedge, May I ask why you chose to make the adventurer party Invisible? In all my years of roleplaying I have yet to see a group of adventurers that were low-key.
