I need to get a drive that can read DVDs for Civ 4 (it is only released on DVD-ROM in Australia). I currently have a 52x read-only CD-ROM. Can anyone recommend to me a model to get...? I am looking at spending the minimum amount possible... If there is such thing as a CD burner with DVD read capabilities (but not write) I would prefer that (to make it cheaper). Do you think I would be able to install it myself? I have a Celeron AGP motherboard, and the CD-ROM drive is running I think on an IDE cable. Do all DVD/CD-ROMs use this type of interface? So it would just be a matter of unscrewing the existing CD-ROM and putting in the DVD-ROM drive and plugging in the same cables (IDE + power)? And would Windows XP recognise the new drive without requiring new drivers, etc.? Any help much appreciated :) Thanks

It may be best to avoid an LG one as that appears to be a fairly common theme among those that can't play Civ 4 and get the message to insert the correct CD-ROM (yes I know it's a DVD) and try again :(

Oh? I just did a search for LG and nothing I found indicated a problem with LG drives made after 2001.

Took me a while to work through the German pages, but that's as much as I could get.
