Well, this new Civ would be a tough choice for me to buy if it came out right after E3. By the looks of it, I wasn't that impressed. It seems that Civ's time-tested formula was thrown out the window. I didn't see turn-based strategy, health for units, etc. But hopefully it will be a good idea. The combat looks kind of fun and different, but one thing stopped all of my excitement: those damn cartoony leader heads. They actually look like something out of Pre School Fun! Large, childish Heads Edition! , rather than the realistic ones in Civ 3. If you havent seen them, check out the Gameplay footage 2 video at this site: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/civilizationiv/media.html. But at least we have great LH makers to replace those. Well, it seems that a lot of other people have confidence in it, and so shall I. Anyone else want to put in their 2 cents?

YMMV, but I saw TBS.

The game's about six months away. Chances are great we'll learn a lot more stuff that may relieve some concerns, and chances are equally great that the graphics will get improved.

I’m basing these assumptions on experiences just from a few weeks/months ago right here. Some people have gotten relieved because of the new aspects they saw. Some were expecting bad graphics. But when they saw the videos, everything changed for most people.

I definitely saw a lot of Pirates! in the video for Civ IV. The battle resolution, the scrolling/movement in and out and the ships. Which is cool. I originally didn't like the first things I saw from Pirates! pre-release, but the game has been excellent.

I see actually 3 different Leader styles in that video. 1. very cartoonish looking Gandhi, 2. less, but still cartoonish looking Mao (and Hatshepsut), 3. "Pirates!"-looking Louis XIV. So I think, there will be much changes since the game is about six months away.

I agree. Maybe they want to show us several different styles so we can give input on which is the most liked. (I hope that is true - otherwise having different graphic styles in the same game makes the game look thrown together and unprofessional IMHO).

My vote goes to the more realistic Mao style - I hated the "Elmer Fudd" looking Ghandi and the silly stereotypical cartoonish Eqyptian queen and Chinese emporer. Loiue style was okay, but not my favorite.

IMO all those leaderheads are okay expect Gandhi has too big head and Egyptian queen has too big hat/too small head (unless it was so in reality too...). When I first time watched that video those things immediately took my attention and I wasn't pleased...Now I'm more used to them but they still bother me bit.

My favourite is Louis XIV :)
